Visa Ventures Invests in Proof

Ten years ago, the world of commerce crossed a major threshold. With the rollout of EMV chips, counterfeit fraud at physical points of sale plummeted, and consumers learned to trust that a simple card tap or insert meant their payment was secure. Today, we’re standing at a similar inflection point for securing our identities.

Every transaction, every agreement, every transfer of value online depends on the question: Who’s on the other side? That question has become harder to answer as artificial intelligence makes it easy to mimic a voice, a face, or an entire identity. As more of life’s most important transactions move online, the ability to verify and trust identities will define the next era of commerce.

We recently announced our collaboration with Visa to enable verified identities to secure transactions across high-value and high-risk payments, digital commerce, and banking — bringing EMV-level trust to the digital realm. Visa’s global payments network and Proof’s identity authorization network are working in concert to protect consumers, prevent fraud, and power new flows of money with confidence.

Today, we announce that Visa Ventures has made a strategic investment in Proof, deepening our shared commitment to securing the digital economy.

At Proof, our mission has always been simple: bring trust to every digital transaction. We’ve built a persistent digital identity layer that allows businesses and consumers to prove who they are, once, and then reuse that trust anywhere it’s needed. With products like Identify, Certify, and our OmniTrust fraud model, we’re already helping financial institutions, fintechs, and merchants reduce fraud and create smoother, safer customer experiences.

Visa has been a pioneer in building global trust at scale. The same cryptographic principles that transformed card-present payments now inform how Proof secures digital identity. We’re proud to have Visa Ventures join us on this journey to reimagine how people and institutions build trust online. The EMV chip secured the checkout counter; now we’re securing everything beyond it.
