SEO - What it is & how long it takes to see success from it!

If you currently own a business and have had your website for a while, you may already know a thing or two about SEO; however, if you're just starting a business and want to learn more about SEO and how it can help your target market discover you, keep reading!

First, what is SEO? SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. We use SEO to optimize a website to increase the quality and quantity of traffic from search engines. For example, when someone searches with keywords, such as "coffee shops in Sacramento," a long list of coffee shops will show up on the search engine being used. The websites that are optimized are going to show up first.

Now that you have a better idea of what SEO is, let's talk about how long it takes for a website to start showing up first when someone searches, on let's say, Google.

While I was doing some research, I came across an article that provides perspective from about 40 marketing pros on the topic of SEO and how long it takes to see results. I agree with the article in that you can't wave a magic wand and expect results overnight because there are quite a few factors that go into SEO to see results. Those factors include but are not limited to your budget, your competition in the market, your website, etc. In the article, it says results can typically take anywhere from three to six months. Now, if you're just starting your business, don't let that discourage you. This is where working with a Marketing professional comes in. I'm not saying it won't take three to six months for you to see results in regards to SEO; what I am saying is that it's important to find someone who knows the ins and outs of creating a solid marketing strategy for your business.
