Remodel Health Turns Integrations into Revenue with Finch
Remodel Health helps organizations transition from traditional group health plans to cost-effective, individualized coverage through ICHRA (Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement) plans. Their all-in-one platform handles everything from plan selection and enrollment to premium payments, making individualized benefits feel as seamless as group insurance.
With clients ranging in size from 10 to 1,000+ employees, Remodel Health needed a way to automate roster syncs and payroll deductions at scale. Manually processing new hires, terminations, and deduction changes was time-consuming for both Remodel Health and their customers. Worse, it was a bottleneck for sales.
By partnering with Finch, Remodel Health was able to unlock 5 new integrations in just 8 weeks, closing an additional 20+ deals while saving hundreds of engineering hours.
"There are deals that we just wouldn't land if we didn't have integrations. Probably 80% of our customers that are using payroll integrations wouldn’t have closed without them."
Integrations close deals
While ICHRAs are quickly gaining popularity, the administration of individualized health plans is inherently complex. Each employee selects their own health plan, meaning no two payroll deductions are the same, and mid-year changes are triggered by every new hire, termination, and qualifying life event. All of this requires ongoing payroll updates throughout the year.
Without integrations, this would be a logistical nightmare, both for Remodel Health and the employers they serve.
“With an ICHRA, you could have a 300-person organization where every single employee has a different deduction amount,” explained Tyler Giffel , Software Engineering Director at Remodel Health.
Finch enables Remodel Health to automatically sync employee rosters from the payroll system and write deductions back — no emails, CSV uploads, or manual changes needed.
“There are deals that we just wouldn't land if we didn't have integrations. Probably 80% of our customers that are using payroll integrations wouldn’t have closed without them,” Tyler said. “For any customer with more than 50 employees, we’re probably not even having a conversation unless we’re integrated.”
Why Remodel Health chose Finch over building in-house
Remodel Health has built direct integrations with major payroll providers like ADP and Paylocity, but each one takes 6–12 months and comes with a significant amount of red tape. Other providers were completely inaccessible to Remodel Health, either because they had prohibitively high API fees or no partnership options.
To unlock more payroll systems and close deals faster, Remodel Health turned to Finch.
“Finch is a great way to integrate with payroll providers we don’t have direct partnerships with. Unlocking access to the niche, long-tail providers is where Finch really shines,” Tyler said.
The team at Remodel Health also evaluated Merge, but landed on Finch for its deep domain expertise.
“Merge is a more general API aggregator that also does HRIS, whereas Finch is highly specialized in HRIS and payroll,” said Richard Perrin , Remodel Health’s CTO.
“In theory, payroll is simple. In practice, it’s a jackknife with 70 different configurations. Finch speaks the language of deductions and reimbursements and knows how to handle complexity, while generic aggregators just know how to map the fields.”
By working with Finch, Remodel Health was able to start syncing roster data from five new systems in under 2 months, over 80% faster than if they’d built the connections themselves. Today, Remodel Health supports roster sync and automated deductions management for platforms including BambooHR, Paycom, Paycor, and Ultipro all through one integration with Finch.

A better experience for employers
For Remodel Health’s customers, integrations drastically reduce the time and effort required to manage benefits. Employers no longer need to alert Remodel Health to every new hire or manually enter payroll deductions — tasks that can add up quickly for high-turnover or large headcount organizations.
“The team administrator for one of our clients once had to spend her Saturday morning setting payroll deductions for a few hundred employees,” said Dylan Zyrowski , Integrations Tech Lead. “It’s really exciting that through these integrations, we’re able to eliminate that work for our customers.”
Finch also helps Remodel Health’s account managers run accurate affordability calculations that are essential for compliance with IRS 1095-C reporting. Prior to having integrations in place, Remodel Health’s account managers had to manually collect and reconcile salary data each year — a process that took about an hour per customer and involved a lot of back and forth with the employer.
“Affordability calculations are one of the other big benefits, beyond just landing new deals and saving time on data entry,” Tyler said. “It used to be a pretty big effort for our account managers. Every year, they’d have to collect salary information from every single customer, then reconcile the data and update it in the platform. Now we can pull that data right from the source.”
Accelerating growth and expanding TAM
Finch has become a strategic part of Remodel Health’s go-to-market motion. Sales teams surface payroll provider information early in the deal cycle, and if Finch supports the system, the integration becomes a key selling point.
Finch has helped Remodel Health close deals that would have otherwise been lost. When one recent prospect required a Paycom integration, Finch enabled it, unlocking a 900-employee contract.
“As we've gone upmarket, payroll integration is a requirement for a lot of these deals to go through,” Tyler said. “Finch has made a real difference.”
Powered by partnership
For Remodel Health, Finch is more than just a technical solution. It’s a partnership rooted in subject matter expertise, responsiveness, and a shared understanding of the complex world of payroll.
“Finch’s support team has been super responsive and has even joined calls with our customers to help us deliver a white-glove experience,” Dylan said.
From streamlining enrollment and affordability calculations to unlocking new deals, Finch has helped Remodel Health scale ICHRA administration and deliver a better experience to both employers and employees.
