November Newsletter
Kaya (Hello),
If Halloween wasn’t spooky enough, here’s something even scarier — it’s less than 49 days until Christmas!
As we start winding down for the year, we want to take a moment to thank you, the health professionals, volunteers, and advocates who subscribe to and engage with our newsletters.
We’re humbled and proud to serve this incredible sector, and we’re already looking forward to an even stronger and more exciting 2026 ahead.
But before the year wraps up, there's still plenty happening, here's how you can stay connected over the next 49 days:
Keeping Up with the PaSCE Podcast
We have several exciting new episodes coming soon, featuring conversations on:
- International Men’s Day (19.11.2025)
- Grief and Bereavement
- Changes to the Strengthened Aged Care Standards and Support at Home Program
- An international guest, who has excitingly been working with AI and MND patients …and even a few episodes where I’ll be sitting down with a couple of CEOs — yes, little old me!
If you have any burning questions about the topics above, feel free to reach out, I’ll make sure to ask our experts. Chances are, if you’re curious about something, someone else is too!
Collaboration Opportunities
We believe in growing our sector together! If you’re hosting an event, awareness day, or initiative that aligns with our mission, PaSCE is happy to collaborate through our media platforms and EDMs to help share your message. You can reach out to us anytime, our contact details are below.
PaSCE Advisory Council (PAC) – Seeking Broader Representation
The PaSCE Advisory Council (PAC) currently includes 13 members, experts in their fields of palliative care, but we're always looking to expand our-membership to include even more voice from across the sector.
Beyond providing structural and strategic advice, PAC members help shape the development of education programs and promotional initiatives — such as our Grief and Bereavement for Health Professionals, the development of which was greatly influenced by the PAC team.
The Council meets four times a year for 60–90 minutes either in-person or virtually, offering a valuable opportunity to share learning, provide feedback, and network with peers across the palliative care community.
If you or someone in your network would be interested in joining, please reach out — we’d love to hear from you.
You’ll hear from us again before the year closes, but it’s been a privilege and an honour to connect with you over this median.
— Tim PaSCE Manager
PaSCE Education Updates
Professional Development Education
Yesterday (5th November 2025), PaSCE delivered its latest Volunteering in Palliative Care, led for the first time by Dr Kevin Yuen, recently retired Palliative Care Consultant at Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) and now volunteer in that very space.
Dr Yuen’s session offered a wonderful blend of clinical expertise, volunteer insight and humor. His passion was infectious and respect for the volunteer space was obvious. We’re grateful to have Kevin as part of our education program and look forward to many more Volunteer Education sessions with him in the future.
Sharpen your communication skills in 2026: through interactive, evidence-based training with professional actors and real-time feedback- from experts. Educations include: • Eliciting and Responding to Emotional Cues • Goals of Patient Care Conversations
Build confidence, compassion, and clarity in every conversation. Register here 👉 Tickets
IPEPA/PEPA
Just in case you missed it! A beautiful new Aboriginal palliative care resource — “Ngany Kaarla Koorling – I’m Going Home” — has been created by mob, for mob in the Great Southern region of WA.
Led by Colleen Cox, Palliative Care Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer with WA Country Health, the project was co-designed with local community members who contributed their language, artwork, and cultural design to bring this important resource to life.
The project has already inspired powerful conversations around palliative care, empowering communities to speak openly, break down barriers, and walk forward in strength.
Access the resource here: “I am Going Home” – Great Southern Brochure (A5 PDF)
This project was facilitated by IPEPA and PaSCE, in collaboration with WA Country Health – Palliative Care Program.
If you’re an Aboriginal and/or a Torres Strait Islander Health Worker interested in exploring palliative care through a structured, complimentary placement, we’d love to support your journey. Please reach out to learn more.
