Our values are mighty and meaningful especially when it comes to investing in our future
Here at the Bega Group, our values aren’t just words on a page, they are the foundation of our culture and can impact our experience at work and in the marketplace. Our Values represent our ideals and describe what is important to us and our priorities, and our Behaviours demonstrate our values in action.
Our vision is to become The Great Australian Food Company by creating great food for a better future. This involves a focus on great food, great people, great aspirations and working for the greater good. Where do our values fit in you ask? Well, we aim to make a difference in everything we do by embracing our four values:
- Grow our people
- Invest in our future
- Passion for the customer and consumer
- Support each other
My journey at the Bega Group
Currently, I’m working at the Bega Group as a Research and Development Manager leading a team of talented individuals. I started here 15 years ago and originally it was our portfolio of brands and market leading position that attracted me. We have several iconic Australian brands that are loved and as a business we have an extensive manufacturing footprint. Fast forward to today and 15 years on what keeps me here is the concept of making food that people trust. With this comes responsibility to the consumer, their families and local communities and this is very important to me.
What our values mean to me
Each of our four values is meaningful, however, if I had to pick one that resonates with me in particular, it would have to be ‘Invest in our future’, as it entails what I love about my work the most. Working in Research and Development enables me to see and influence how my everyday work feeds into the strategy and help grow the business. The other part of this value for me is being part of a team that brings new products and technologies to the market to establish strong brands. I work amongst and lead an amazing team, that is full of great people with very versatile backgrounds and skills.

I feel that this value is particularly important as businesses can only be successful by balancing commercial outcomes with people's job satisfaction. We are all impacting that balance and when we get it right, we all feel valued, and the business succeeds.
It is important that values are brought to life authentically each day. I see this play out when people around me come to work to do what they are passionate about and highly capable of, in order to achieve a common goal. No day is ever the same which gives broader opportunity to improve and grow. Personally for me I try and demonstrate this value by ensuring that I bring the best out of my team, so that together we can achieve the goals using our individual strengths.
When I think about a team member who demonstrates this value, I’d like to shout out to David Wilkinson, our Facilities Manager. Dave supports a huge number of activities and people. He focuses on getting great outcomes for the future and supports us all to make our work as smooth as possible. He supports everyone to succeed.
I’d describe our culture as open, respectful, diverse, agile and resilient, and for anyone considering joining the Bega Group, my advice would be to come with lots of energy and passion.
