November edition: converting climate ambition into implementation

November edition: converting climate ambition into implementation

2025 marks 10 years since the Paris Agreement was adopted at COP21 in Paris.

With implementation high on this year’s agenda, COP30 Brazil underscores a people and nature-centered approach to climate action. This is reflected in the Presidency's call for a global 'Mutirão'—a Portuguese term describing a collective effort toward a common goal.

Baker Hughes is participating in Spotlighting private sector solutions for COP30, in addition to several other engagements and activities at COP30.

In this issue, we've curated content that showcases Baker Hughes’ contribution to advancing sustainability in the context of COP30 👇.

Unlocking Brazil’s vital natural resources in pre-salt fields, while safely returning CO2 deep underground

Earlier this year, Baker Hughes was awarded by Petrobras as the first joint technology agreement to develop definitive solution to pipeline erosion,  to unlock the vital natural resources that power the region, while also safely returning CO2 deep underground. Petrobras is reinjecting CO2 from their production operations into wells to reduce flaring and enhance oil recovery. Petrobras has committed to limiting atmospheric emissions, and carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) is an important tool for achieving this goal.

Baker Hughes has played a significant role in developing Brazil’s offshore energy sector, supplying flexible pipe systems and advanced monitoring technologies that reduce the effects of high CO2 environments. The company’s localization efforts also support the Brazilian economy and strengthen the energy supply chain.

Baker Hughes launches GirlGetSET in Brazil

In 2025, Baker Hughes launched GirlsGetSET in Brazil, a volunteer program dedicated to empowering young girls in school years to pursue their interests in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers.

The three-day program included mentoring sessions from female STEM role models, tips to build a strong CV, hands-on exercises on energy transition and a final group project focused on Carbon, Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS). Learn more about our partnership with GirlGetSET here.
