Employee Spotlight: Larissa

In our latest edition of our employee spotlights series we caught up with Larissa in Finance. Check out her inspiring story about her career journey starting in Operations, advice she would give to people considering a career at bet365 and what makes Finance a rewarding team to be part of.

What brought you to bet365 and what has your journey been like so far?

After moving to the UK and exploring my career options, I found an opportunity to join bet365 as a Customer Account Advisor in the Brazilian department. I was attracted to the role as I wanted to build a career within a large organisation, especially one of the leading operators in its industry. It has now been 4 years since I joined, and in that time, I’ve had the opportunity to work in 3 different departments and roles.

Having begun my journey in the Brazilian Customer Service department, I then moved into Operations Payments Support, before recently joining the Finance department as an Assistant Accountant within the Management Accounts team.

After 3 years in Payments, I decided it was time to learn something new. I have a degree in Business Administration and while I was working in the Payments department, developed a desire to study accounting.

This became a reality for me when I saw an opportunity in the Finance department; I applied and now bet365 are supporting me with a comprehensive study package, with funding and resources that will allow me to achieve my AAT qualification. This career step has been crucial for my professional growth and the development of my financial knowledge.

How has the company’s overall growth influenced your role and responsibilities?

bet365 has been growing significantly year after year, and in the last few years, the company started operating in new countries, like Brazil. This is why an opportunity arose for me to work in the Finance department, as part of the Management Accounts team focusing on Brazil. Like any career change, it can be difficult at times to take on new challenges and getting used to being out of your comfort zone, but I believe it will be worth it in the future. Having a permanent job position and studying is a challenge and although achievable, requires a lot of effort and dedication.

What advice would you give to new staff or people who’d like to join your team?

If you have a desire to work in something, be confident and aim high in your career. Plot your progression, set objectives and don’t be scared to reassess your path.

What do you enjoy most about working at bet365?

What makes working in the Finance team so rewarding?

The people. They welcomed me warmly and did everything they could to make me feel included. Everyone is collaborative, and each person contributes their own unique skills and experiences.

I appreciate that we not only collaborate effectively as a team, but we are also encouraged to connect socially at organised events throughout the year.
