In Conversation with Dominic Nguyen, General Manager, Distribution
What drew you to lululemon and how long have you worked here?
When I started at lululemon, I didn’t really know much about the company, just that we sold a lot of yoga pants. That was 18 years ago! But what has kept me at lululemon for so long is our strong values, focus on personal growth, and reputation for an empowering people-first culture. From the outside, it was clear that this wasn’t just a company that sold products—it was a community that prioritized wellness, leadership, and purpose. Since joining, that impression has only deepened. There’s a genuine sense of connection, support, and respect at every level.
Could you tell us about your career journey?
I started as a dispatcher at our Distribution Centre (DC) in Vancouver, BC. My role was to work with our freight forwarders to schedule inbound shipments into the DC and coordinate deliveries to all our local stores. After a few years in this role, I was fortunate enough to work with some amazing leaders who really pushed and supported me in my development. I went from a Warehouse Associate to Team Lead, Supervisor, Manager and eventually to where I am today, General Manager of the Delta, BC Distribution Centre.
What has been your proudest moment and/or project to date that you’ve worked on during your time at lululemon?
One of my proudest moments at work came from leading my first project, rolling out Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to the North American DCs and Retail stores. This not only pushed me outside my comfort zone but also became a turning point in my professional development. Throughout the project, I learned the true value of teamwork—how effective collaboration, active listening, and shared accountability can drive results. As obstacles arose, I developed stronger problem-solving skills by staying solution-focused, analyzing issues from multiple angles, and working with the team to implement practical, creative fixes. Additionally, managing shifting priorities and deadlines taught me essential project management skills, from setting clear goals and timelines to keeping stakeholders informed and aligned. The experience was both demanding and rewarding, and it gave me greater confidence in leading and contributing to complex initiatives.
How would you describe the unique culture at our DCs?
The culture at our Distribution Centre is truly one-of-a-kind—a place where hard work meets heart. There's a strong family vibe that runs through everything we do, creating a sense of belonging and connection that’s rare to find. Whether it's lending a hand during a busy shift or celebrating team wins together, there's constant support for one another, both professionally and personally. People genuinely look out for each other, and that camaraderie creates a positive and uplifting environment. Even during high-pressure days, there's room for laughter, friendly competition, and team-building activities that keep the energy high and the atmosphere fun. It’s a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and motivated to succeed together.

What is a goal you are working towards?
One of my personal goals this summer is to complete four LEGO sets by the end of December. This challenge is not just about building models—it's a way for me to unwind, stay creative, and stay committed to a fun, hands-on project outside of work.
What advice would you give someone interested in joining the DC team?
If you're thinking about joining the DC team, go for it—you won’t regret it! My biggest piece of advice is to come in with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. The work can be fast-paced, but you’re never alone. There’s a strong sense of teamwork here, and everyone looks out for one another. Be ready to jump in, ask questions, and support your teammates—because that’s the kind of environment we thrive in. And don’t forget to have fun! We work hard, but we also laugh a lot.
Do you have a favourite lululemon product that you can’t live without, and why?
Bowline Shorts, it is my most versatile piece! I do everything in them, from going to the gym, to water sports, to work and sleeping.
