Large cyber claims unveiled: a focused study on trends, threats, and tailored solutions

A recent AXA XL study reveals that 88% of cyber losses over the past decade stem from claims exceeding $1 million, driven mainly by ransomware. The report, “Cyber Claims Unveiled,” analyzes 300+ claims, highlighting trends like rising claim severity, improved breach detection, and industry-specific risks. Notably, organizations now detect breaches internally 66% of the time, up from 36% pre-2019, reflecting greater resilience.

Ransomware remains a dominant threat, affecting over half of recent large claims. Larger organizations and sectors like healthcare and retail face higher risks of significant claims and business interruption.
