AI Content - A few thoughts
Overview
AI-generated content is being increasingly adopted by brands as a fast, effective, and resourceful alternative to hiring content writers. AI allows you to create high-quality content on any topic within a fraction of the time it takes writers to manually create the same content.
AI writing assistants can be used to create virtually any digital content, including:
- blog posts
- social media posts
- emails
- product descriptions
- ad copies
- landing pages
However, AI-generated content presents an SEO dilemma. Does Google value AI content, and does it have the same ranking potential as human content?
Pros of Using AI-Generated Content for SEO
Cost-effective
Using an AI writing assistant is far cheaper than hiring a human writer to generate content. The ROI will therefore be higher with AI content
Fast & easy
AI content is generated almost instantaneously. You only need to supply the basic overview of the article’s topic/subtopics and the tool will create the article in a matter of seconds. AI also helps with language localization for various geographic areas
Content augmentation
AI-generated content is often of better quality than human-written content. This is because AI tools analyze different published texts and then create something similar using the same style. It also has no spelling or grammatical errors.
No writer’s block
Human writers often suffer from writer’s block, i.e. being unable to complete sections and paragraphs, or find the right way to phrase a particular idea. AI tools do not have this issue
Cons of Using AI-Generated Content for SEO
Lack of creativity & personalization
AI software lacks the subtleties and nuances of human language and can appear robotic and spammy. In order to create engaging content, human emotional intelligence is required, and AI has been unable to replicate this, thus far.
Cannot generate ideas
AI writing assistants can only create content based on the instructions its given. However, generating new ideas and crafting original content on new subjects must be done by a human content manager.
Not always accurate
AI uses language techniques to generate content, but it's unable to fact-check and ensure that everything it’s writing is accurate.
Not SEO-friendly
SEO for content pieces can be very nuanced and must be adjusted based on the search intent, featured snippet, etc. AI can add keywords but is unable to perform the in-depth SEO requirements for content.
Plagiarism & duplication
AI tools piece content together from various sites and reword them. Therefore, AI content can often be very similar or identical to other pieces of content on the web. Search engines may flag content because it is too similar to published materials.
Analysis and though-leadership
AI tools can create articles based on factual information. However, they’re currently incapable of performing analysis and generating unique insights and ideas.
Summary
AI writing assistants are a potentially invaluable tool for content marketers. They can create high-quality content at scale for any topic.
However, AI content must be edited and proofread by a human before publishing. The editor should fact-check, ensure there’s no plagiarism, add internal/external links, ensure the phrasing is SEO-friendly, and add a human touch to the robotic-sounding content. In addition, human writers are needed to add their own insights and analysis.
Check for:
- overly short sentences
- overuse of the word “the”
- repetition of words and phrases
You should also ensure that any data that appears in your text is real and from a valid source. This can include any statistics, information about companies, and quotes.

2yHeard the following slogan last week: “The sad thing about artificial intelligence is that it lacks artifice and therefore intelligence"; let's see if the LinkedIn Live you and Yoel will have, will make many think otherwise as no doubt there are many pros to the cons.
