Balancing autonomy with accountability in the age of intelligent commerce

Article content

The rise of AI agents that can independently discover, evaluate, and even complete purchases is a major shift for digital commerce and for the financial world as a whole. We’re now stepping into a space where intelligent systems don’t just help us, but actually act on our behalf.

Of course, that kind of autonomy brings new challenges. Risk management, fraud prevention, data security, and compliance all need to keep pace with this level of intelligence. The key is finding the right balance, putting strong guardrails in place so innovation doesn’t race ahead of safety. If done right, this evolution could completely reshape the way global commerce works, making transactions faster, smarter, and built on a whole new level of trust.

AI agents reshaping the CPG value chain

Article content

AI is no longer something on the sidelines for consumer goods companies. It’s becoming a part of how we make decisions, design products, and engage customers every day. From product design to supply chain optimization and customer engagement, AI is influencing decisions at every stage of the value chain. On the business side, AI is powering demand forecasts, pricing strategies, and content personalization with a level of speed and precision that was unimaginable a few years ago.

We’re already seeing AI agents help consumers find what they need faster and make smarter choices. The real value is in using these tools to cut down manual work, improve speed, and get clearer insights. It’s not about replacing people, it’s about helping teams focus on what really drives growth.

In this interaction with CIOInsider, Rajan Sethuraman, CEO, LatentView Analytics, highlighted that the real challenge in taking AI projects from proof-of-concept to production lies not in the model itself, but in the strength of the data foundation supporting it. He explained that without a scalable, secure, and governed data infrastructure, even the most advanced GenAI models cannot deliver sustainable impact.

Rajan discusses the importance of building a data-driven culture that builds collaboration between humans and AI, ensuring that innovation remains both responsible and measurable. He emphasizes that enterprises realizing true AI success are those that focus on strengthening their data foundation, nurturing the right culture, and driving adoption that directly links AI initiatives to business outcomes.

At LatentView, we believe education extends far beyond traditional classrooms, and the Chennai Kaalpandhu League (CKL) stands as a testament to that belief. As our flagship CSR initiative, CKL leverages the power of football to nurture teamwork, leadership, and confidence among children from Chennai’s government schools. What began as an effort to promote sports and inclusivity has evolved into a transformative platform that empowers young minds to dream bigger and build a sense of purpose and belonging.

The finals held at J. L. Nehru Stadium, Chennai, on September 13, saw Kuthambakkam Government School emerge victorious in both categories, clinching the Girls’ title 1–0 and the Boys’ title 2–0.

The event was graced by Indian cricketer T. Natarajan and national-level rifle shooter Narmada Nithin, whose presence inspired the young athletes to continue pursuing excellence both on and off the field.

Rajan Sethuraman, CEO, LatentView Analytics, opened the event by highlighting the gap between AI experimentation and enterprise-scale execution, stressing the need for strong data foundations, clear objectives, and people-process alignment.

The second joint session, “Back to the Data: Fueling AI’s Future,” featured Mike Becker from Stellarus and Parijat Banerjee from LatentView Analytics. Parijat noted that most AI projects fail due to poor data quality and trust gaps, stressing the need for structured, governed data. He shared real-world use cases, including an AI-first transformation with Stellarus.
