📰 AI news of the month
ChatGPT Atlas – OpenAI’s AI Browser Launch
OpenAI launched ChatGPT Atlas this month, a full-fledged web browser with ChatGPT baked in. Users get a sidebar that can summarise pages, compare products, analyse data or even complete tasks in "agent mode". Initially available on macOS, with Windows and mobile versions on the way, Atlas marks a shift: the browser itself now becomes the AI assistant, not just a tab for one.
Gemini 2.5 Computer Use – Google DeepMind Enables UI-Controlling AI Agents
Google DeepMind introduced the Gemini 2.5 Computer Use model this month, which enables agents to literally click, type and scroll in web and mobile interfaces on behalf of users. The model outperforms competitors on browser-control benchmarks and opens up a world where automation isn’t just API-driven but interface-driven. For tech teams this means new workflows: you can build agents that operate in apps, dashboards or interfaces previously locked to human eyeballs and clicks.
💡 AI term of the month: "Multimodal AI"
Multimodal AI refers to systems that can understand and generate content across multiple types of data, like text, images, audio, and video at once. Instead of processing each input separately, these models combine different signals to provide richer, more contextual responses. It’s the foundation of the next generation of AI assistants and creative tools, powering everything from realistic text-to-video systems to visual code debugging. In short, multimodal models are making AI feel more human by learning the way we do: through multiple senses.
