⚖️ 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝟑𝟓 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐂𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐞 The Income Tax e-Filing portal has introduced major changes to the way Form 35 Appeals before the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) [CIT(A)] are filed. The updated system demands greater detail, additional disclosures, and more documentation upfront — making the process significantly more time-intensive. 🔑 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝟑𝟓 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐈𝐓𝐑 & 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬 – Must specify type of ITR filed and disclose if business/professional income was earned in that year. 𝐍𝐨 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐛 – Bulk uploading is gone; documents must now be attached section-wise (e.g., Statement of Facts). 𝐍𝐨 𝐔𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐥 – Grounds must be typed directly into the form, along with details such as amount involved, disputed amount, whether raised in earlier years, and status of those appeals. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐔𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐝-𝐔𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 – Any supporting document referred to in the appeal must be uploaded; missing uploads could weaken or invalidate your case. 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 – Filing delay is now auto-computed; strong justification is needed for condonation. 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 – Extra questions cover areas like search & seizure, transfer pricing, TDS, international taxation, etc. ⚖️ 𝐀 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 Some of the new disclosures demanded by the portal go beyond the officially notified Form 35 (last issued May 29, 2023). Since no new CBDT notification has been issued, professionals are debating whether the portal can legally mandate this additional information. 📌 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐚𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 & 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 * Collect all relevant data and documents in advance. * Ensure every relied-upon document is within limit size and ready for upload. * Be prepared for a longer, more detailed filing process.

CBDT Issues Search and Seizure Manual 2025 https://lnkd.in/d7eskcsG #SearchandSeizureManual2025 #cbdt #incometax #news #breaking The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has introduced the revised Search and Seizure Manual 2025. The Search and Seizure Manual has been an instrumental tool for tax authorities since its first publication in 1985. Over the years, it has undergone several revisions, with major updates in 1989 and 2007. However, given the significant advancements in technology, the manual required another overhaul to align with the current trends in digital evidence handling and the increasingly complex financial activities of taxpayers.

The Federal Tax Authority has released a series of updated guides and user manuals in late 2025, covering several critical areas: • Filing of corporate tax returns. • Requirements for audited financial statements within tax groups. • Procedures for corporate tax de-registration. • Rules for changing corporate tax periods. These updates are not minor administrative changes. They directly affect how businesses prepare filings, which forms they must use, and what penalties apply for errors or omissions. Businesses that fail to align their processes with these updated guides risk late filings, rejected submissions, or unnecessary penalties. FFG stays at the forefront of regulatory updates and ensures clients are fully briefed on changes. We assist in interpreting the new guidance, adjusting internal accounting calendars, and preparing businesses for seamless compliance.

HMRC has launched a new online tool designed to help businesses assess whether their activities may qualify as Research & Development for tax relief purposes. We were pleased to have contributed to the testing of this tool and see it as a positive step toward improving understanding and accessibility around R&D tax relief. While the tool offers a useful initial indication, it requires an existing understanding of the criteria to be used effectively. The tool should be used in conjunction with wider guidance (including the helpful Guidelines for Compliance on R&D), and/or professional advice to ensure claims are accurate, compliant, and reflect the full scope of eligible activity. ✅ A good starting point ⚠️ Not a substitute for expert guidance You can find the tool here: https://lnkd.in/eVbQv47V #R&D #TaxRelief #Innovation #HMRC #RDClaims #BusinessSupport #TaxCompliance

🍂 HMRC BRINGS IN EXTRA £4.6 BILLION USING 'BIG DATA' SYSTEM 🍂 The tax authority's Connect system uses data from a wide range of financial sources to analyse tax returns and detect potential evasion. In a response to a freedom of information request from law firm Pinsent Masons, HMRC said it generated on average £3.4 billion in additional annual yield from Connect cases. However, this rose by over a third in the 2024/25 tax year when Connect generated approximately £4.6 billion. Connect, which was introduced in 2010, has grown in scale over the last 15 years to become one of the largest datasets held by the UK government. It has become a key part of tax investigations, with around 4,300 HMRC staff now using it. The increasing scale of the Connect system allowed HMRC to conduct more than half a million cases in the last year alone. Ian Robotham, a tax expert at Pinsent Masons, said: 'HMRC has spent time building up the amount of data sources that it can access and analyse. 'The algorithms that it uses allows HMRC to spot anomalies that would otherwise go unnoticed by the human eye. 'With thousands of HMRC staff now using Connect, taxpayers are facing a level of oversight that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago.' #TaxNews #tax #HMRC #accountants #SMEAccountingExperts #SupportingSmallBusinessesUK #GrantJones
