The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the National Center for Relational Health and Trauma-Informed Care is excited to recruit pediatricians/pediatric subspecialists for a new cohort of the Trauma-Informed Care Champion Program. The AAP, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), University of California, Los Angeles, and UMass Chan Medical School, is working to increase the capacity and competency of pediatricians and other pediatric health care providers to provide trauma-informed care (TIC) to children and families in their communities. To assist with this goal, the AAP is seeking to expand its cohort of TIC Champions from a variety of practice settings and communities to: - Serve as subject matter experts in TIC. - Support the education and training of pediatric health care providers and clinical teams in the provision of trauma-informed pediatric care. - Provide guidance and technical assistance to pediatricians, other pediatric healthcare providers, and chapters/states on implementing TIC in pediatric healthcare settings. Should you be interested, please submit your application by November 9, 2025, at 11:59pm CT here: https://lnkd.in/geuWGwgm. Introducing the focus filter! Focus areas or sub-specializations continue to emerge in pharmacy residency and fellowship post-graduate training. Examples include PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency with a focus in ambulatory care - or a PGY-2 Infectious Diseases Residency with a focus in pediatrics. At Unscripted Rx, we want to make the process of finding your ideal residency as smooth as possible so we've created a new focus filter to help students find what they want much more quickly. (P.S. Many residency programs asked for this feature too). Ready to try it out? Check it out at the directory today! Excited to share a recent review of the book "Deciding with Children in Pediatrics," published by Elsevier's Academic Press! Edited by John Massie, Georgina Hall, and Lynn Gillam (The Royal Children's Hospital), this book offers a well-written and organized exploration of involving children and adolescents in healthcare decision-making. It thoroughly discusses ethical principles and developmental considerations, providing practical guidance for medical clinicians and bioethicists who work with children. According to reviewer Dr. Joseph Hageman, MD, from Evanston Hospital, this is a "superb, detailed, much-needed current book" that effectively addresses the process of making clinical decisions with young patients. Dr. Hageman emphasizes its importance for all clinicians involved in pediatric care, noting that it skillfully combines theory and practice to improve patient-centered decision-making. A must-have for healthcare professionals dedicated to ethical, collaborative, and developmentally appropriate care! #Pediatrics #MedicalEthics #ChildCenteredCare #HealthcareDecisions #PediatricMedicine #ClinicalPractice #MedicalEducation

I am truly honored and delighted to share my very first publication on pediatric home injuries, recently published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM) MDPI : “Home Is Not Always Safe: Pediatric Unintentional Home Injuries in a Tertiary Emergency Department Setting.” 🔗 https://lnkd.in/d_qisZ9r This retrospective study analyzed all pediatric patients under 18 years diagnosed with unintentional home injuries (UHIs) in the Ankara University Pediatric Emergency Department—a tertiary university hospital—between January 2016 and November 2024. Among 852,090 emergency visits, 12,327 (1.4%) were identified as UHIs. Demographic characteristics, injury mechanisms, imaging findings, surgical interventions, hospitalizations and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) admissions were comprehensively evaluated. Our findings emphasize the urgent need for preventive strategies focusing on early childhood safety, including maintaining secure home environments, proper chemical storage and increased parental supervision. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my mentor, Dr. Göksel Vatansever, for his invaluable guidance and leadership throughout this study. Dr. Mihran Naljayan, MD, DaVita's Chief Medical Officer of Home Modalities and Pediatrics sat down with Healio to discuss a powerful solution for improving pediatric kidney care—offer more provider training and team-based education to boost home dialysis uptake and outcomes. “By enhancing education and exposure to home modalities, especially early in a physician’s training, we can shift the mindset and better support families,” said Dr. Naljayan. It’s encouraging to see conversations like this happening—and I hope it sparks more focus on education and support for both teammates and families. I’m truly honored to share that our research paper, "Blood cultures and predicting positivity in extremely preterm infants admitted to an outborn level IV NICU," has just been published on PubMed through BMC Pediatrics 🎉 This study provides valuable insights into identifying factors that predict blood culture positivity among extremely preterm infants — a step forward in guiding early diagnosis, optimizing antibiotic use, and improving neonatal outcomes 🩺👶 I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional collaboration between Queen Rania Al Abdullah Children's Hospital, Nationwide Children's Hospital, The Ohio State University, and Jordanian Royal Medical Services, whose support and mentorship made this work possible 🙏 Research like this reinforces how teamwork and shared dedication across institutions can transform neonatal care and advance the field of neonatology 🌍✨ 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e5GkF-8Y #Neonatology #Pediatrics #MedicalResearch #BMCpediatrics #PubMed #NeonatalCare #Collaboration #Research #NationwideChildrensHospital #OSU #QueenRaniaChildrensHospital #JordanianRoyalMedicalServices
