It was only a matter of time… Generative AI has made it dramatically easier to create convincing, falsified receipts, and finance teams are feeling the impact. The Financial Times reports that some platforms saw fraudulent, AI-generated documents spike to nearly 14% in just a year. When fraud becomes point-and-click, traditional “eyes-on” reviews aren’t enough. Because by the time someone is inspecting a PDF, it’s already too late. At Extend, we’ve seen firsthand that fraud defense starts upstream — at the moment a card is issued, not when an expense is submitted.
