Each year, UNIQLO’s Global Management Program (GMP) gives talented undergraduate students from around the world the chance to travel to Tokyo for an intensive 6-day business program. The program provides an exclusive opportunity for students to interact with global business leaders, and learn more about the fashion/retail industry and Fast Retailing's business, allowing participants to share ideas, experience global perspectives, and grow as future leaders. One student attending this year’s program was Lew Sheng Zheng, an undergraduate from Taylor's University, who was invited to represent Malaysia. "Participating in the GMP has helped shape and clarify my understanding of what defines a responsible company with a positive work culture and strong ethics,” Zheng said. “I found the company’s people-centric approach especially admirable and unlike anything I had experienced before. Through this program, I aspire to embody the same sense of responsibility, whether toward employees or customers, while ensuring that goals and priorities are always placed in the right order.” To learn more about this program, and stay tuned for the opening of applications for 2026, see: https://lnkd.in/gc9Vz8s

1moI’m deeply disturbed to see that a Uniqlo employee, Goody Tan, is actively trolling sports and hip hop pages on Facebook with racist remarks targeting Black people. Here’s one example of his comments: ‘How many NBA players have really passed 8th grade algebra? 😂’ This isn’t just an offhand joke—it’s a racist stereotype that demeans an entire community. And sadly, it’s part of a pattern of behavior where he aligns with MAGA-style rhetoric and spreads hate online. On September 5th, he even posted about setting up a weekly promo at Uniqlo’s First Colony Mall location in Sugar Land, TX: Uniqlo positions itself as a global, inclusive brand. Does this kind of conduct align with your values? Do you want someone representing your company—setting up events in your stores—while attacking Black people online? The hate must stop.
