#Philosophy challenges us to question the flaws of our world and shape ethical principles that guide humanity toward peace and inclusion. UNESCO, as the United Nations' laboratory of ideas, fosters philosophical reflection and dialogue that generate knowledge, inspire innovation, and influence global policy for a better future. As Prof. Ingrid Robeyns 🟥 says, philosophy's enduring power is to inspire critical thinking and a more tolerant society. What philosophers try to do is always to ask in an, in a non dogmatic open mind, the questions and it, and sometimes philosophers will come to certain conclusions, for example, that we are being narrowed down in a certain part and that we no longer have the clarity. But sometimes philosophers will also just ask questions and there is no firm answers. And this kind of commitment to trying to be as disinterested as possible in the questions you ask, I think it's crucial to be able to. He bowed very critical and show what is wrong with the planet and with our societies and the global society as we have it now. And also at the same time to remain open that sometimes there may be disagreements and that all of these different perspectives actually are equally true or equally valuable. So we have to always keep an open mind. That I think is the most important message that philosophers spring. Although that doesn't mean that when we when we reason, anything goes. It must be in line with the best knowledge we have about empirical effects. And of course, very importantly, the reasoning must follow the rules of logic. Many people who talk and think about the current state of the world and about values, values such as democracy or human flourishing or the state of the planet, feel pessimistic or feel that they lose hope. The solution or the response should not be to give up hope. We should create hope. And help each other to keep going on and becoming actually more active because, and the trick, I think is to do it together. Because if people unite and they collaborate and they form groups where they speak with their neighbors or their friends about what is needed to defend democracies, to defend the OR to take care of the planet. When you do it together, it's, it actually becomes really nice to do you, you have this, you develop friendships with people with whom you collaborate. And that, I think, is the kind of the key to not giving in to pessimism, but rather Despite that it's difficult to fight for a better world. And I think UNESCO has an important role to play there. But all of us intellectuals, but also every citizen.
💭 Philosophy doesn’t tell us what to think , it reminds us to notice what we’ve stopped questioning.
In politics, that’s everything.
🧭 Who decides what “progress” means?
🧭 Whose voice shapes the future?
🧭 And which ideas survive once the slogans fade?
European Elections 2042 is built on a simple belief:
a democracy gets stronger every time its citizens ask better questions , and expect clearer answers.
Because the hardest problems aren’t solved by louder arguments,
but by deeper thinking.
