Sharing this for my colleagues and friends building data centers: The cost per watt for a typical cloud, air-cooled facility rose 5.5 percent this year. That is still up, but noticeably slower than the 9 percent jump we saw last year. A key factor is that overall construction cost inflation has cooled to about 4.2 percent across the sector. As regional supply chains mature, we’re starting to see some easing in pressure specific to data center delivery. London, Frankfurt, Paris, and Amsterdam are dominant #datacentre hubs in Europe. Spanish cities probably follow. Labor is also a challenge in the busy Swiss market. Alternative delivery models are rising, giving less headache to #construction #contractmanagers 😉 European costs for CSA packages have stabilized, albeit at elevated levels, while #skilledlabor costs remain high with extended lead times – particularly for mechanical, engineering, and plumbing, and owner-furnished, constructor-installed #OFCI. Looking ahead, the combined demand for cloud and AI technology is expected to sustain demand across the continent. However, #power, land, and supply chain constraints will remain key obstacles to timely delivery.

Our 2025–2026 Data Centre Construction Cost Index is now live.
