Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR). CW: This post discusses murder and systemic violence This evening, we gather at Ozone Reserve (East Perth, Boorloo) to honour the trans and gender-diverse lives lost to violence and discrimination. From 6:15pm, we will stand together for justice, liberation, and dignity through community speeches, poems, and performances. Event Details: - This event is Auslan interpreted. - Please bring a picnic rug or chair. - For more information and to register, please visit https://lnkd.in/gRZnmtnD Between October 2024 and September 2025, 281 trans and gender-diverse lives were reported lost to transphobic violence worldwide. We know this number is underreported. Many of those we remember today were Black and Brown trans women and trans sex workers. This year’s reports also show a disturbing rise in violence targeting trans activists and community leaders. This is systemic violence rooted in intersecting systems of oppression, racism, misogyny, and xenophobia. For the full report: https://lnkd.in/gbNTkbJx We remember those we’ve lost. We recommit to the fight for our right to exist without fear. Their light remains in our hearts and in our ongoing struggle for justice.
