The Salvation Army Australia’s Post

This Remembrance Day, did you know…? For 125 years, The Salvation Army has been privileged to stand alongside Australia’s service personnel — offering comfort, care and connection in times of conflict, hardship and homecoming. Salvo’s representatives were there in the Boer War. In the First World War, “Fighting Mac” McKenzie buried hundreds of ANZACs under fire. In the Second World War, they served tea and hope in the trenches of Tobruk and the jungles of New Guinea. And in every conflict since, they’ve offered a listening ear, a quiet prayer, and a steady presence. Through Red Shield Defence Services, that legacy of compassion continues — serving those who serve, with courage and care. #RemembranceDay #LestWeForget #Salvos #TheSalvationArmy #RSDS #StillServing #BelieveinGood

Thanks for sharing this heartfelt tribute on Remembrance Day—it’s inspiring to see the Salvation Army’s 125+ years of standing by Australia’s service personnel through conflicts and beyond, from the Boer War to today. As someone who’s looked into your recovery programs (like the Adult Rehabilitation Centers), it’s impressive how you’ve helped over 150,000 adults annually with free, faith-based support for addiction recovery, blending counseling, work therapy, and spiritual guidance. Completion rates vary (12-80% depending on the center), but the no-cost access fills a huge gap when only ~3.7M of 21M Americans needing treatment get it. Financially, with ~$4.8B in revenue (mostly donations and thrift sales), about 82-83% goes directly to services like these—solid efficiency for such a massive org. Keep up the compassionate work; just don’t send the bell-ringers my way too early! 😊 #RemembranceDay #Salvos #StillServing #BelieveInGood
