Thought I'd share a conversation I had with Dr. Solange Charas that was turned into an article for ADP 's Spark Blog. The topic is very timely to those leading HR functions given the uncertain economic environment which has placed a higher burden on having to prove the financial impact of People investments. The reality is that we are seeing significant financial returns on initiatives that create the right conditions for people to succeed at work. Those returns may vary yet where it seems our industry struggles the most is on being able to effectively connect these investments to the bottom line of their organizations. The article provides some really good perspective and guidance on what leaders can do to elevate the awareness, impact and effectiveness of their HR initiatives in the eyes of finance and business owners. https://lnkd.in/eDTRfDBh

Still struggling to get your HR budget approved? It’s because you’re not speaking the language of finance. To get in front of your CFO, you need to prove your HR initiatives’ value in financial terms. If your proposals continually get rejected it’s because the ROI isn’t quantified in a way that resonates with CFOs and other financial leaders. I share my insights on this topic in a recent ADP article that explores how a simple five-step framework can bridge the gap between HR strategy and financial decision-making. The insights shared include: ◾ Why HR and finance often “speak different languages” — and how to translate between them. ◾ How a 1% improvement in HCROI can potentially create a 20%+ profit lift. ◾ Five steps to quantify value, build a case, and gain executive buy-in. ◾ Why regulatory shifts and investor expectations make this more important than ever. When human capital is positioned as an intangible asset, not just a cost cutter, you become empowered to reframe the conversation … and the budget! Many thanks to Cat DiStasio, Christian Gomez, Ashli Ahrens, and ADP for sharing my insights and highlighting this significant disconnect between HR and finance. https://lnkd.in/ewByNJ8i #HumanizingHumanCapital #HumanResources #HRStrategy Brad Tuyay, Kim Hoover, Darwin Hanson, James Gaskin, Stela Lupushor
