Zero power IoT ? I'm following the development of Ambient IoT, a technology where devices power themselves by harvesting energy from existing wireless signals (like Wi-Fi and cellular). They communicate not by transmitting, but by 'backscattering'—intelligently reflecting those same signals. This shift from battery-powered to ambient-powered devices will be the true enabler of a trillion-sensor economy. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/d35MrMU9

We’ve just accomplished a new milestone for IoT connectivity. For the first time, an IoT device using standard protocols has connected directly to a satellite from low Earth orbit (LEO). Nordic Semiconductor's nRF9151 connected with Sateliot’s satellite network using the 3GPP Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) standard. This was a real connection, outside the lab, using the same protocol already deployed for terrestrial IoT in many regions. It proves that existing standards can extend beyond cell towers and reach anywhere on Earth without new hardware or proprietary systems. Global, low-power coverage for IoT devices is no longer theoretical. It’s happening.
