Last week, TD Garden hosted more than 3,000 students at its 14th annual Back-to-School Celebration. Together with our partners — The Salvation Army, City of Boston and the Boston Bruins Foundation — we provided backpacks, school supplies, winter coats, vision screenings, and more to help students start the school year strong.
“The Back-to-School Celebration is one of our favorite traditions each year, bringing together our partners at the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics, and the community to make sure local students have the tools they need to start the school year with confidence," said Glen Thornborough, president of TD Garden and COO of the Boston Bruins. "It’s more than school supplies—it’s about showing students that their community believes in them, stands behind them, and is rooting for their success in the year ahead."
Here's a look back at some of our favorite moments from this year's event! ⤵️
This is the annual Back to School events in collaboration with the Boston Public Schools and Salvation Army. 3000 backpacks, 3000 jackets here today. This is our 14th year doing it and it is a home run, this exciting time for all of us. We have over 200 volunteers that are here engaging, communicating, delivering backpacks filled with school supplies, jackets, screenings for dental and vision. So we're trying to do we can do a little bit of what we can do back to the community. We couldn't be more thrilled with. We're so thankful for the partnership with the Bruins. City Garden and this is where our students come to get their backpacks, to get their coats, and it couldn't be placed at a better time for our families to see the joy of the students as they're coming down. And then we just incredibly thankful and happy. We've got some Bruins players here. I tell you, we're on a Garden floor. I've got Mason, Lori and James Hagans, our new draft pick that are out here to play with the kids. It could be fun to get to know him on a first name basis and actually see these guys. It's fun and it was awesome to be able to to be here. You know, it really makes you feel like you're part of the organization to be able to get back, you know, it means the world. We were able to show some kids how to how to shoot, be able to walk around, just be able to interact with them. This initiative is special because we can bring all of the different people together, whether it be volunteers or family members, community and celebrate these kids as as they kick off another school year.
