A lot of founders I meet with are lonely. They're exceptional at what they do and it comes at a cost. Friends and family are proud but don't really get it. Their team isn't fully honest with them. It's the same whether they run a boutique firm or a legacy business. Their problem isn't marketing or business development. It's trust. When the business is an extension of your life's work, the lines blur. Personal dilemmas and work problems that keep you up at night are one and the same. Every decision feels personal because it is. Usually, they don't need a coach, consultant, or framework. Just someone to listen. Someone they can trust to think through the big and small things with without judgement or agenda. Someone that will help them see what they're missing when no one else will speak up. Someone that can think with them, not at them. Someone that can keep up and doesn't need to be spoon fed. When the stakes are that high, clarity isn’t optional. It’s the difference between survival and succession.

The number 1 questioned being posed to me by organizations at the moment:- This is the biggest pain-point of organizations at the moment, & something which has caused me tons of pain as well, and that being the ability to sustain a decent BUSINESS RHYTHM, not too fast, & not too slow, but one that allows for constant growth, & while still maintaining good retention of clients & employees. When I first left corporate many years back my world was turned upside down, & it was nothing to do with strategy, but more about who I was attracting.. And the 3 biggest roadblocks were always around:- dealing with indecisive clients, & who were not only squeezed financially, but were verrry slow in providing info and who were also postponing a lottt.. This is not only very draining, but these kind of roadblocks are severely going to affect both your employee morale, & hit your bottom-line very hard. Overcoming this requires both greater awareness, possible nervous-system regulation, & most importantly TRIPLING-DOWN on what it takes to create success.. And that means:- no more operating from doing 'just enough', but being way more intentional, purposeful, & impactful.. Just maintaining the status quo is no longer enough, & nor is working with out-dated systems & info, & most importantly, you need to be anticipating the future needs for both your own & your clients successes.. Worrying about a project recently, my inner judge whispered to me: "What if we get left behind? What if they decide not to work with us anymore?" Partnerships with others are a critical part of growth and long-term success. But, how do we stay in partnership with others? Reflecting on this, it occurred to me there are three ways: 1. Tie yourself to them so they can't move forward without you 2. Stay ahead of them so you won't ever get left behind 3. Stay in dialog with them and walk side-by-side #1 can work but breeds resentment, especially if one is dragging the other. #2 is fine as long as you're both heading in the same direction, but you may turn around one day to find you're all alone. and #3? Well, you just have to trust that an honest, on-going conversation will tell you both where you're headed and you can stay on that path together for as long as you both like. What do you think?
