Work shouldn’t suck. Period. It can be hard. It can be challenging. It’s how we grow. There is no perk, reward or benefit that will increase engagement and increase retention - if you cannot design an employee experience which doesn’t drain the life out of your workforce. I trained a group of managers this week on employee retention strategies. The secret lies in a manager’s ability to communicate effectively and remembering that communication is a two way street. Mostly it’s not what you say, but you are able to effectively hear. What is unspoken and unsaid is often where the retention strategy should focus.
