A new chapter begins for the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery. This week, ahead of the Official Opening in 2026, we celebrated the establishment of Australia’s first hospital-based biomedical engineering research and education centre, a milestone made possible by decades of vision, partnership and perseverance. From the fearless innovation of Venerable Mary Aikenhead and the Sisters of Charity to the collaboration of today’s universities, research institutes and industry partners, ACMD stands as a living laboratory where compassion and excellence meet innovation.
