What a gorgeous costume! It makes good sense that it's not entirely black, which can also fall very flat on stage and in photographs. The colors and textures woven in gives her so much more life and connection with the audience, even at the back of the theater!

Video Description: Set behind-the-scenes in a museum, this reel features close ups of a dress worn by Elphaba in the musical “Wicked.” Shots include details of the many fabrics in Elphaba’s dress, object photography, and a costume sketch.

Speaking of the 1939 movie, Margaret Hamilton, the actress who played the Wicked Witch of the West in that film, was a native of Cleveland, Ohio!
