Amplify the harvest and feed the future with One Acre Fund. Smallholder farmers produce 70% of Africa's food. They're providers and entrepreneurs in their communities. Yet many lack access to the seeds, tools, and training needed for reliable harvests. One Acre Fund works with 5.5 million farming families across 10 Sub-Saharan countries, not as charity recipients, but as partners. They provide improved seeds, agricultural training, and support. Farmers repay small loans that cover most program costs, creating a sustainable model built on dignity and agency. To celebrate One Acre Fund and World Food Day, The Life You Can Save is running a matching campaign, every donation gets doubled, up to $50,000. The goal: reach 71 villages (over 43,000 people) with the training and resources they need to amplify their harvests and strengthen food security. When farmers have the right support, they don't just feed their families, they transform entire communities. Click the link to learn more or make a donation: https://lnkd.in/gp2WWmKS

We’re teaming up with Farmers Weekly for an exclusive webinar to discuss the barriers to redistributing surplus food to charity — and explore the solutions that work. The CHS Inc. Foundation and CoBank are making a combined donation of $2 million to Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. The CHS Foundation and CoBank will each contribute $1 million. Hunger is present in every community, and food banks are experiencing heightened demand as families work hard to afford basic necessities. According to Feeding America, 86% of counties with the highest food insecurity are rural. “CHS and the CHS Foundation believe in the power of the cooperative system to support rural communities. Through this combined effort with CoBank and Feeding America, we’re helping families in rural America have access to the food they need.” - Jay Debertin, president and CEO of CHS. In the latest issue of Sliced magazine, AFRA’s Executive Director Iain Lees-Galloway talks about how bakeries can make a real difference by partnering with food rescue. Every loaf saved and every tray of buns donated adds up to millions of meals shared instead of wasted. Last year alone, AFRA members rescued over 10 million kilograms of food, which is more than 20 tonnes every day. There is still so much more we can do together. Check out the story on page 16 of Sliced by Baking New Zealand, which also includes insights from Kaitlin Dawson, Executive Director of Kai Commitment https://lnkd.in/g_MJy__U #FoodRescue #BakingNZ #Sustainability #PartneringForImpact #AFRA

🍎 58% of our Windsor-Essex community believes there’s more to be done to improve food security — and we couldn’t agree more. This winter, we’re coming together to ensure no one in our community goes without a meal. 💚 Through our recently announced 2025 Community Impact Grants, WECF is proud to support the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association's Good Greens Food Reclamation Program, which since 2023 has rescued 17,000 pounds of fresh food from the Downtown Windsor Farmers Market — turning that into 23,000 healthy meals for those in need. Through the generosity of our fund holders, and the Foundation's Community Impact Grants and programs, we are proud to support numerous local charities addressing the need for food security in our community. Together, we’re reducing food waste, strengthening food security, and ensuring everyone in Windsor-Essex has access to good food and good company.
