Last night's Perron Institute Dementia and Parkinson's event at Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club was a wonderful showcase of medical research which attracted a full house to hear from two of our top researchers. Professor David Blacker AM, spoke about his journey as a Neurologist with Parkinson's disease, his experience of receiving a Parkinson’s diagnosis, living with the condition, and devising a boxing program that promises to alleviate symptoms and promote a higher quality of life. Professor John Mamo outlined his work leading the PIA Study (Probucol in Alzheimers), with initial results showing great promise to allow patients a higher quality of life over a longer time period.
