Lighting the Way Forward: How Designers Are Reinventing Headlamps for a Safer, Smarter Night Drive 🌙✨ For automotive lighting engineers, one challenge is clear: making night driving safer without blinding oncoming drivers. Adaptive headlamps promise that balance. These systems use cameras, radar, lidar, and sensors to dynamically adjust beam patterns, illuminating the road ahead while minimizing glare. But designing them is far from simple. Think about this: With 60% less traffic at night, there are 40% more crashes. Every decision, from optical path design and thermal management to actuator response time, must work flawlessly under real-world conditions. And with new safety standards like FMVSS 108 defining virtual certification for Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) systems, designers must prove compliance before the first prototype ever hits the test track. That’s where Ansys simulation steps in. Using Ansys Zemax OpticStudio, designers optimize every optical surface and lens to achieve precise light distribution. Then, Ansys Speos takes the whole system to the road - virtually - letting engineers visualize what drivers will see in any driving condition, from city streets to winding mountain passes. Finally, Ansys AVxcelerate Headlamp connects it all, enabling real-time system testing, glare evaluation, and digital validation against global safety standards. With simulation, what once took months of costly prototyping and night testing can now be achieved in a fraction of the time, empowering designers to focus on innovation, performance, and safety. 🔶 Join us on November 6, 2025, to see how simulation is powering the next generation of adaptive headlamp systems. Discover how Ansys tools help designers accelerate development, reduce cost, and ensure optimal performance — from concept to certification. Driving Innovation in Adaptive Headlamp Design with Ansys Speos, Zemax OpticStudio, and AVxcelerate. Speakers; Lionel Bennes, Lead Product Manager AVxcelerate, Ansys part of Synopsys Victor Loya, Lead Application Engineer, Ansys part of Synopsys November 6, 2025 (two sessions available) 👉 Register Now: Session One: 9:00 a.m. EST https://ansys.me/4olNp9v Session Two: 2:00 p.m. EST https://ansys.me/4qGwqAe #AdaptiveHeadlights #AutomotiveLighting #HeadlampDesign #AnsysSpeos #AnsysZemax #AnsysAVxcelerate #AutomotiveSafety #Optics

Rethinking Monocular 3D through Spherical Vision Monocular 3D estimation has long been limited by rigid assumptions about camera geometry. UniK3D redefines that boundary by viewing vision itself as a spherical function. Instead of predicting depth in flat pixel space, it models every possible camera through spherical harmonics, learning a continuous field of rays that can represent any projection from pinhole to panoramic. This removes the need for intrinsics or calibration and enables a single model to recover metric 3D geometry from any image. At its core, UniK3D is not just a model for depth but a way of expressing how cameras perceive space as smooth variations on a sphere. It shifts the problem from calibration to understanding.

Built a URDF-based digital twin of a 6-DOF robotic arm in ROS 2 and loaded it in RViz2 to validate the kinematic structure before any hardware work. Used the Joint State Publisher sliders to manually drive each DOF and verify joint limits, link origins, and transform hierarchy with TF visualization. This confirms the kinematic chain behaves correctly in simulation. The full CAD model of the arm was designed first, and each link geometry was exported from the assembly to generate the URDF with separate visual and collision meshes. The arm is modular at the end-effector, allowing multiple grippers to be swapped in as needed without modifying the main kinematic chain. This digital twin now forms the foundation for extending the ROS 2 pipeline toward MoveIt2 motion planning and later deploying control on the actual hardware. Starting with a validated twin ensures a clean CAD → URDF → RViz2 → MoveIt2 → hardware progression with errors eliminated early in simulation.
