It starts with one car window smashed in a quiet neighborhood overnight. By morning, several more vehicles on the block have been hit. The suspects are long gone but nearby home security cameras have captured critical details that could help the investigation. This is just one scenario in which neighbors could play a powerful role in keeping their city safe. Axon Community Connect is a voluntary, permission-based program that helps law enforcement request video footage directly from residents and businesses when an incident happens nearby. Footage is only shared with law enforcement when the owner grants permission. By registering their existing security cameras, participants help streamline investigations and support faster, more effective responses. #Attack Cycle: Criminal/violent attackers typically follow a six-phase process referred to as an Attack Cycle. #Initial Planning and Target List: Consider the crime and potential targets. #Initial Surveillance and Target Selection Gather basic information like habits, routines, security measures in place, and anticipated reward to be gained. The vulnerability and profile of certain persons make them desirable targets. Aid agency workers fit this category. #Surveillance: Conduct detailed surveillance to gather additional information and finalize their execution plans. #Rehearsal: Practise the finalized plan to determine any loopholes. #Attack: Implement the plan. #Escape: Avoid disruptions to the plan. #Surveillance Techniques: These are some of the surveillance techniques used by criminal perpetrators. #Stealing Rubbish: Gather discarded documents that may be useful. #Making Phone Calls: Call to engage someone in conversation to gather information. #Conducting Surveys: Ask questions in-person or by phone to gather information. #Making Service Calls: Disguise oneself as a service provider (electricians, plumbers) to gather information. #Engaging in Local Gossip: Build rapport with or befriend local drivers or guards deployed at an office or residence to extract useful information about someone’s movements, timing, and other aspects. #Conducting Technical Surveillance: Use technology to gather information, monitor communication, and movement/location. The circulation of CCTV footage from the recent crash on the Poreporena Freeway is deeply concerning. While the footage might help explain how the incident unfolded, its appearance online raises an even bigger question: How secure are our municipal camera systems? If this clip was leaked from the newly established city network, then we have a serious gap in governance, access control, and ethical handling of sensitive material. Surveillance teams need to be vetted, trained, and bound by strict secrecy clauses and accountable for every second of footage they handle. Footage security needs clear policies, controlled access, staff vetting, and consequences for misuse. These systems are meant to protect the public — not feed social media.

📹 Here’s a question most business owners don’t think about: Do your cameras actually stop crime — or just record it happening? Most businesses feel safer once they’ve installed cameras, but footage alone rarely prevents theft. In fact, many intruders know the footage won’t stop them in real time — it just helps after the damage is done. So what do you think — 👉 Are cameras more of a deterrent, or just a documentation tool after the fact? Drop your take below — we’d love to hear how business owners and security pros see it. https://lnkd.in/g66WD2ru #VideoGuard #BusinessSecurity #CommercialSecurity #SecurityAwareness #SmartSurveillance #CrimePrevention #LossPrevention #RetailSecurity #SecurityTips #CaliforniaBusiness #BusinessOwners #SecurityTechnology

Cameras don’t win deals. Systems do! When we walk a site, it's not just looking at angles and PoE budgets. You need to be thinking about retention sizing, CJIS alignment, and how this system will hold up in court. Chain of custody. Zero-Trust Provisioning. CPTED. NSPIRE. These aren’t buzzwords! They’re the difference between a system that protects and one that just records. If you’re not designing with compliance in mind, you’re not designing for public safety. #AiSecurity #Zerotrust #Humaninloop #physicalsecurity #Compliance
