Our four-legged companions are more than just working animals — they're family! Today, our canines and horses gathered for our annual blessing of the animals with Assistant Chief Chaplain Msgr. Romano to honor their vital role in public safety.
For those who truly have had the privilege to either work with, or own, these four legged canines and equines truly make our days fulfilled. Though my experience has been as an owner of a Lassie Collie / German Shepherd cross and then an owner of a Seal Brown Morgan, you always appreciate the shear intelligence, dedication and loyalty of these animals. As the case was, my canine, showed just how lethal and efficient in her eradication of woodchucks on our farm she was. My horse, on the trail, be it going down an old dirt road, in the water, while navigating the undulations on the creek bed, or galloping through an open field and spotting various other critters both above, or below ground, I could always rely on him to have my back. We all are better for their existence, plain and simple.
