Happy International Coffee Day! Today, we celebrate the heart and soul of the coffee journey: the farmers who cultivate the beans we love and the beautiful nature that supports their work. At Nespresso, we believe in the power of regenerative agriculture—an approach that not only nurtures the land but also enhances the long-term resilience of coffee farmers. So, what is regenerative agriculture? In simple terms, it’s a way of farming that focuses on restoring and improving the health of our soil, water, and biodiversity. By using practices that work in harmony with nature, we can capture carbon, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and create a thriving ecosystem for future generations. Last week at Climate Week New York, we also unveiled that Nespresso will be the first brand to source Rainforest Alliance regenerative certified coffee, with one of the initial coffees coming from Yamileth Chacón’s farm in Costa Rica. Additional farms in Costa Rica and Mexico have also received certification and will soon bear the new regenerative seal, which will begin appearing on Nespresso’s coffees starting in 2026. Through our Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program, we’ve been building strong relationships with coffee farmers for over 20 years. Our commitment to regenerative agriculture means we’re not just sourcing coffee; we’re investing in the future of coffee farming. By promoting practices like agroforestry, composting, nature-based alternatives to pesticides, and crop diversification, we can support increased harvest yields, helping to improve farmers’ income while protecting the environment. Together, we can create a coffee industry that is not only sustainable but also resilient to the impact of climate change. Join us in celebrating the farmers, the land, and the delicious coffee that brings us together. Here’s to a brighter, greener future for coffee!
