MSC Group's shore power journey: Connecting ships to shore in four countries

This title was summarized by AI from the post below.

🌍 From the Mediterranean to New York — connecting to shore power around the world. In the past month, MSC Group’s Cruise Division has reached new milestones on its shore power journey, with five ships successfully completing test and operational connections across four ports and four countries on two continents. Following consecutive operational and test connections by MSC World Europa and EXPLORA II in Valletta, MSC Seaview and MSC Poesia successfully completed test connections in La Spezia and Le Havre respectively. Then this weekend MSC Meraviglia became our first ship to test the connection to shore power in New York. Each shore power connection allows ships to switch off their engines, eliminating direct emissions and improving local air quality while berthed. With 18 ships now shore power enabled and all new builds delivered with shore power capability, we continue our retrofit programme to further expand access across the fleet. These milestones reflect our commitment to sustainability, partnering with ports worldwide to improve local air quality and harness advanced technology as we work towards achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
