While capturing physician-patient conversations sounds appealing, the reality is complex. Inaccurate or incomplete notes can compromise patient safety and care quality. Contextual understanding is crucial; without it, even high-accuracy transcripts may misrepresent clinical intent. Curbside Consult with Dr. Jayne 11/3/25 - HIStalk The AMA's new Center for Digital Health and AI aims to integrate physicians into technology development, but skepticism remains about its feasibility and impact. With declining membership and concerns over the value of roles like CMIO, many physicians doubt the AMA's commitment to frontline providers. As AI continues to evolve, the balance between innovation and clinician well-being is critical. The challenge lies in ensuring that AI tools genuinely enhance patient care rather than complicate workflows. How can we advocate for meaningful physician involvement in AI development? #HealthcareIT #DigitalHealth #AIinHealthcare #PhysicianEngagement #HealthTech #ClinicalInformatics #HealthInnovation ai.mediformatica.com #physicians #health #clinical #clinicalworkflow #digital #medicine #workflow #digitalhealth #medical #americanmedicalaociation #drjayne #histalk #healthit #healthtech #healthcaretechnology @MediFormatica (https://buff.ly/uzHFG80)

AI is no longer a future concept in health care — it’s here, and practices are feeling the impact. A new survey of 887 clinicians shows half of medical practices are already using AI tools, with the biggest gains in documentation, fax automation, and soon, patient communication. See where practices are investing next — and why ROI and workflow relief are driving adoption. 👉 https://hubs.li/Q03TfH9H0 #MedicalEconomics #HealthTech #ArtificialIntelligence #PrimaryCare #PracticeManagement #DigitalHealth

The American Medical Association (AMA) has launched the Centre for Digital Health and AI to ensure physicians play a central role in shaping and integrating emerging technologies in #medicine. The Centre will focus on policy leadership, clinical workflow integration, education, and collaboration to guide the responsible use of digital and AI tools in #healthcare. The initiative aims to bridge enthusiasm for #AI among physicians with practical strategies that safeguard data privacy, reliability, and patient-centred outcomes. 1,200 doctors stopped typing during patient visits. 20% less screen time, 30% less after-hours documentation. Penn Medicine proved something every physician suspected. The doctor-patient relationship was drowning in paperwork. Now AI scribes are changing everything. They listen to conversations. Filter out small talk. Generate structured medical notes in minutes. Dr. Bracken Babula at Jefferson Health hits record and maintains eye contact throughout visits. No more typing while patients talk. The results speak volumes: • 20% reduction in EHR time during visits • 30% less after-hours documentation • Goal to reclaim 10 million clinician hours by 2028 • The Permanente Medical Group saved 15,791 physician hours in one year But this isn't just about efficiency. It's about bringing humanity back to healthcare. When doctors aren't staring at screens, they connect with patients. Challenges remain. Data privacy concerns. Accuracy issues with accents. The need for human oversight. That's why the "human in the loop" approach matters. Doctors review every AI-generated note before it becomes official. By 2025, 30% of healthcare will use ambient AI scribes. Some academic systems may hit 50%. The future of medicine isn't replacing doctors with AI. It's freeing doctors to be more human. What barriers do you see to AI adoption in your healthcare experience? #HealthcareAI #DigitalHealth #PatientCare 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲꞉ https://lnkd.in/gnR7vqcG

Fun fact: Dr. Jones was the first ever to do fellowships in both pediatric hospital medicine and clinical informatics. On our recent episode of The Digital Patient, we dug into: → How compared to 10+ years ago, informatics is still 20% tech and 80% change management - BUT folks entering informatics today are learning about AI instead of stumbling into EHR work like the previous generation. → How to avoid AI clinician co-pilot fatigue means accepting that clinicians don’t want one perfect workflow - they want THEIR workflow, which makes personalization the real frontier and the hardest part of the work. → How Sutter going all-in on Ambient AI 1.5 years ago wasn’t just a timely tech bet - it also showed that the real return isn’t just financial but also the restoration of clinicians’ time, well-being, and dignity. → How in an era where clinicians are quietly cutting back their FTEs and health systems spend fortunes trying to replace them, Ambient AI falls short if it’s framed only as a productivity tool - its true value is preserving clinician longevity, not squeezing out more output. → While early clinician adopters of AI may be informatics-savvy change agents, at scale the ‘phenotype’ of who embraces AI varies wildly by use case - revealing a J-curve where enthusiasm, hesitation, and outright refusal all coexist until real-world value becomes very clear. → How including patient feedback to shape Sutter’s Epic ART Gen AI patient portal message drafts showed the value of patients teaching healthcare staff what ‘sounds human’ - and then tuning the AI to that shared voice. … and much, much more! HIStalk Interviews Peter Bonis, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Wolters Kluwer Health - HIStalk In a recent interview, Dr. Peter Bonis, CMO of Wolters Kluwer Health, emphasized the critical role of clinician-authored content in enhancing clinical decision-making. He highlighted that informed clinicians can change treatment plans 30% of the time based on reliable information. With the rise of AI, the challenge lies in delivering tailored, accurate insights without overwhelming healthcare providers. Dr. Bonis advocates for robust governance in AI tools to ensure transparency and safety in patient care. As healthcare evolves, the integration of advanced technologies must prioritize clinician needs and patient trust. #HealthcareIT #ClinicalDecisionSupport #AIinHealthcare #PatientCare #HealthTech #DigitalHealth #MedicalEducation ai.mediformatica.com #health #healthcare #about #medical #uptodate #healthcareprofeionals #faculty #wolterskluwer #medicine #chiefmedicalofficer #histalk #peterbonis #digitalhealth #healthit #healthtech #healthcaretechnology @MediFormatica (https://buff.ly/uzHFG80)
