Today, we’re proud to launch The MECCA Archive a growing collection of beauty’s defining cultural moments and our most ambitious purpose-led initiative to date. Given our ongoing mission to advance gender equality, when we discovered that less than 1% of recorded history is about women, it revealed a gap that felt impossible to ignore. The Archive has been created to write women’s voices back in, through beauty, a language that has always carried women’s stories forward. The MECCA Archive is not about preserving products or campaigns, it’s about sharing perspectives and shifting the conversation, celebrating how far we’ve come and recognising how much there is still to do. More than a campaign, it shows beauty is not trivial, but part of our culture, our identity, and our future. The MECCA Archive is there to be explored while inviting our community to share their beauty history, rituals and moments, so they can be preserved for generations to come. "Our dream is that decades from now, a girl opens the MECCA Archive and sees herself in it – what mattered to us, what we created, and what we changed together." - Jo Horgan Explore the MECCA Archive: https://lnkd.in/gsEYrgg7 Read more here: https://shorturl.at/3eUmV
You beauty
Such a great initiative!
Shonagh Walker. You would have some stories as the beauty expert you are
This is such a powerful reminder that beauty isn’t surface.. it’s cultural storytelling. By archiving women’s voices through the lens of beauty, MECCA is doing what the most progressive platforms are striving for: rewriting history with women at the centre. At The Bridal Journey, we see this every day in bridal, weddings are not just personal milestones, they’re cultural markers, shaping how femininity, identity and love are remembered. The MECCA Archive is history-making in the truest sense."
