Remember phone books? Not being listed didn’t mean someone didn’t have a phone. Same goes for Peppol. Just because a company isn’t in the Peppol Directory doesn’t automatically mean they can’t receive e-invoices. Some organisations choose not to be listed publicly, but they can still receive Peppol documents if properly registered with their Access Point. Some Peppol SMP providers do not have a Peppol Directory integration or there can sometimes be delays in the data transfer between SMP and Peppol Directory. The new version of the Peppol Authority Specific Requirements of Finland have been published. The requirements are relevant for Peppol Service Providers who have Finnish end users as customers. The changes were mostly editorial and we tried to make the rules easier to understand. The only real change was the removal of the reporting requirement of statistics since that is now done centraly by OpenPeppol. Finland does not have an accreditation process for Peppol-service providers, but you still need to follow the country specific rules. We have requirements regarding: - The indentifiers of Finnish end users - Mandatory usage of centralised SMP for public sector end user organisations - SLA requirements for cases when service providers are changed - Requirements for the KYC-process - Recommendation for ISO27001 certification The exact details can be found from the OpenPeppol Confluence page. While Peppol provides a unified infrastructure, it doesn’t remove national legislation or local requirements. Each country still defines its own onboarding, formats, validation rules, governance, and testing procedures. So although it looks like a single network from the outside, expanding to a new market often means: ➡️ additional documentation ➡️ country-specific registration steps ➡️ technical or validation differences ➡️ and, in some cases, an approval or certification process 👉 This is why Peppol isn’t quite the plug-and-play network many expect. You can scale through one Peppol Access Point - but the effort is not identical everywhere. This is the first part of a short series where we clarify the most common misconceptions of Peppol and what’s actually true in practice. In the meantime, you can already read the full blog post: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dWWi-ZCY #Maventa #Peppol #AccessPoint #eInvoicing

🌍 As the Peppol network expands globally, each country adds its own layer of governance through Peppol Authorities (PAs) and Peppol Authority Specific Requirements (PASRs). 📘 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲? Let’s start with a fundamental question: what exactly is an electronic invoice? To understand it, we need to see it through two essential dimensions 👇 1️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁 An e-invoice isn’t a PDF, it’s a structured digital file, where every detail (supplier name, VAT number, line items, totals, due date…) is precisely defined and machine-readable. 2️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 An e-invoice isn’t just sent as an email attachment. It travels through a secure, dedicated network called Peppol, ensuring interoperability, traceability, and compliance between companies and systems. Unlike PDFs crossing the open internet, e-invoices flow through a specialized infrastructure built exclusively for financial documents. 𝗜𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝘂𝗺, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲: we are using the Peppol BIS 3.0 standard, based on the European EN 16931 framework, ensuring every invoice, credit note, or correction is structured, secure, and interoperable across Europe. #einvoicing #peppol #belgium #fintech #digitalfinance #accounting #automation #ubl
