The Lochlitobel Bridge endeavor exemplifies the essence of cooperative effort and meticulous engineering. Through an extraordinary collaboration, 28 staff members—including office personnel—joined forces to fabricate one enormous support beam for the structure. Constructed wholly from 100% Swiss timber obtained from allied regions, this block-glued laminated beam extends to a remarkable 27.3 meters in length. Assembled from six separate beams, it dimensions 1320 x 1360 mm and encompasses a total of 49.1 cubic meters of glulam. With the addition of steel elements and HBV connectors, the complete assembly weighs 24.1 tons. This accomplishment underscores eco-friendly building practices, Swiss artisanal expertise, and the strength of teamwork in creating enduring public works. follow Civilengineeringtc for more such innovative construction videos.

When conventional access methods would cost 300% more, engineering innovation becomes your competitive advantage. The William Mosgrove Tower restoration in Ottawa presented what seemed impossible: accessing 15 stories of building envelope work when ground-floor residential units extend beyond the structural footprint. While most contractors would resort to expensive external scaffolding, our team at Tangent Building Systems using their fleet of Fraco Products Ltd mast climbers engineered a different solution. Transforming an access barrier into a cost-effective strategy that's now delivering superior results. On this project we also demonstrate our cold forged steel framing, and EIFS expertise, partnered with Keller Engineering and their talented team of consulting Engineers who themselves had a tall order to fill based on the building’s challenging facade, turned this 'impossible' challenge into a showcase of what's achievable when you refuse to accept limitations.

Red-iron steel has become a trusted foundation for projects across industries, from warehouses and municipal facilities to custom barndominiums. Its advantages are clear: Long-term durability: Structural-grade I-beams with red-oxide primer stand strong for decades. Resilience: Engineered to meet demanding building codes and weather conditions. Flexibility: Clear-span design allows for open layouts that adapt to your needs. Value over time: Lower maintenance protects your investment for the long haul. At ProSpan, we believe in more than supplying materials. We collaborate with contractors, business owners, and municipalities to ensure every project meets its vision, timeline, and budget. It’s not just about the steel itself, it’s about partnership, technical expertise, and delivering results you can count on. Learn more about our approach: https://lnkd.in/esQAnVuM

In facade construction, there are no small details. Every junction, connection, and fastening point plays a critical role in the integrity of the system. That’s why node solutions are one of the most important stages of our work. Their purpose? To prevent leaks and heat loss, ensure structural resilience, and keep facades performing reliably in any conditions. At #ZFBteam, our priorities are clear: 1. Safety and durability come first. 2. Aesthetics follow — we respect the architectural vision. 3. Ease of installation comes last, but never at the expense of reliability. It’s always a balancing act, but our top priority remains unchanged: dependability. We work according to international standards, adapted to our market and climate. And thanks to our proprietary library of typical nodes — including seals, reinforced fasteners, and hybrid materials — we can launch projects quickly and confidently. Still, every solution is tailored to the specific building and its unique context. Because even the most standard node is the result of precision and the deep experience of ZFB engineers.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐫: 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐝-𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐥 (𝐂𝐅𝐒) 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐭-𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐥 (𝐇𝐑𝐒) 2 min read When it comes to modern construction solutions, pairing cold-formed steel (CFS) with hot-rolled steel (HRS) is turning heads for all the right reasons. This dynamic duo creates hybrid steel wall systems that bring the best of both worlds together—offering enhanced seismic resilience, lightweight design, and exceptional versatility tailored for mid-rise structures. The lightweight panels of CFS complement the sturdy HRS frames that handle lateral loads like a pro, making this partnership an ideal choice for efficient mid- and high-rise construction projects. Beyond traditional applications, engineers are exploring ways to augment conventional hot-rolled frames with specific cold-formed elements to optimize structural performance further. Here are four key design strategies for the structural framework of a high-rise building: - Lateral Load Resistance: Prioritize systems like shear walls, braced frames, or moment-resisting frames to counteract wind and seismic forces, which become dominant at greater heights. - Efficient Load Path: Ensure a clear and continuous path for gravity and lateral loads from the top of the structure to the foundation, minimizing stress concentrations and structural inefficiencies. - Structural Redundancy and Robustness: Incorporate multiple load-resisting elements and fail-safe mechanisms to prevent progressive collapse in case of localized failure. - Material Optimization and Lightweight Design: Use high-strength, lightweight materials (e.g., high-performance concrete, structural steel) to reduce dead loads and improve construction speed and sustainability. #Sectional steel #Universal rolling mill #Sectional steel rolling mill Section steel is a type of steel with a specific geometric cross-section, such as I-beams, channels, and angles. Its primary function is to serve as the "framework" of a building. Through its unique cross-sectional design, it achieves lightweight construction while maintaining load-bearing strength. It is widely used in steel structures such as industrial plants, bridges, and towers, playing a key role in supporting, securing, and transmitting loads. It is an indispensable foundational material for modern architecture and engineering.
