"We'll just simulate it when we get to tech transfer." Too late. Here's what I'm seeing: Teams that wait until tech transfer to build digital twins are spotting their CMC delays too late. Digital twins aren't dashboards. They're not visualization tools. They're decision engines that prevent disasters before you touch the plant floor. The difference between teams crushing tech transfer and teams drowning in deviations? What struggling teams do: → Build fancy visualizations nobody uses → Wait for "perfect data" before starting → Try to model everything at once → Treat twins as IT projects, not CMC tools What winning teams do: → Pick their highest-risk unit operation first → Build a minimal data layer (tags, specs, limits, consumption) → Run 3 "disaster scenarios" - worst raw material, instrument drift, utility pinch → Convert insights into 2 SOP tweaks and 1 control limit update Here's the kicker: This isn't about perfect models. It's about making better decisions faster when the stakes are highest. You're building institutional knowledge that survives site transfers and personnel changes.
