The divide in AI adoption between remote, hybrid, and in-office employees says a lot about how environment shapes behavior. In my experience, the teams most open to AI aren’t necessarily the most tech-savvy, they’re the ones given permission to experiment. Hybrid teams often have more autonomy and flexibility, which naturally encourages a “test and learn” mindset. In the office, routines can become rigid, and innovation turns into something people feel they need approval for rather than something they explore. If organizations want meaningful AI adoption, the culture has to support curiosity, not compliance. Leaders have to normalize using these tools, demonstrate the impact, and remove the friction that makes people hesitant to try something new.
