LECTURE: Join Christian Rieser and James McDonagh at #AAG2025 - Advances in Architectural Geometry in Boston on November 19, 2025. They will contribute to Paper Session 5: “Timber Assemblies – Design, Construction, Reuse”, presenting insights into a recent timber gridshell project. The #gridshell structure spanning 30 by 19 meters over the courtyard was developed with a dual emphasis on architectural expression and structural efficiency. Given the complexity of the geometrical configuration and material behavior of glued laminated #timber (glulam) in combination with a #glass envelope, the design process required an #integrated, #iterative, and #parametric approach. The paper by Florian Meier, Christian Rieser, and James McDonagh will appear in the conference’s digital proceedings.
