Sentinel-6B is on its way to continue a 30+ year sea level record! 🚀 Teams have received full acquisition of signal from the satellite, indicating that we are communicating with the satellite and it is functioning nominally. Once in orbit, the satellite’s instruments will be calibrated and validated – meaning we check that the data is accurate and reliable. Sentinel-6B will measure sea level changes over ~90% of Earth’s ocean. Its data will support our daily lives from the shipping industry and national security to weather and storm forecasting. Copernicus Sentinel-6B/Jason-CS is an international collaboration with our partners: European Space Agency - ESA, NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, EUMETSAT, and Centre National d'Études Spatiales. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gJTSz9D8

Sentinel-6B launches, continuing to monitor global sea level changes and providing critical data for meteorology, shipping, and safety
Each mission like this brings us one step closer to understanding and protecting our planet. Well done to everyone behind Sentinel-6B!
Impressive milestone! Excited to see how Sentinel-6B’s data will continue shaping our understanding of the oceans and supporting so many aspects of daily life.
Outstanding work by all teams involved. Sentinel-6B is already delivering.
