When Dr. Saad Khan saw a BC healthcare recruitment ad in the UK, he and his wife Samantha Khan were intrigued, but unsure. Just a few months later, they arrived in West Kelowna, ready to start a new chapter. Dr. Khan is now practicing family medicine. Samantha, an occupational therapist, is looking forward to building her career in BC’s public health system. In the Vancouver Sun article, the Khans said they moved here because of the province’s diversity, natural beauty, and the way BC supports its doctors. They're part of a growing number of international healthcare professionals choosing BC — and helping strengthen care in every corner of the province: • 660 new internationally trained doctors have registered to practise in BC, as of July 31, 2025 • 2,250 US health-care professionals have expressed interest in working in BC since March 2025 • 2,485 new internationally educated nurses have been approved to work in BC since 2023 These results reflect BC’s commitment to reducing barriers, recruiting globally, and investing in a stronger, more inclusive healthcare system. Whether they come from across the country or around the world, we’re welcoming healthcare professionals who want to build their future in British Columbia. Welcome, Saad and Samantha — we’re glad you’re here.
