headspace’s Post

📢 Social media rules are changing for young people under the age of 16 in Australia from 10 December 2025. Parents and families, your support during this shift is key. Let’s discuss how to help them adapt smoothly.     We understand this might feel overwhelming or bring mixed emotions – and that’s completely normal. At headspace, we’re here to encourage caring and open discussions at home, helping young people feel respected and supported.      Start by showing curiosity and asking questions about how they’re feeling. This can also be an opportunity to discover new ways of staying in touch and finding the help they might need, both online and in everyday life.      You’re not facing this challenge alone. To make things easier, we have services ready to support you, such as online and phone mental health support services and online communities where you can join weekly peer group chats.      Find our social media ban resources here: https://lnkd.in/gasEjgXz     Let’s work together to make this change an opportunity for progress and stronger connections. 🤝

A really helpful reminder that parents don’t have to navigate this alone, thanks for sharing these resources.

Mental health support for parents will be critical as teens adjust to this new law. I feel for those children who are socially awkward and rely on social media as their only connection to other people.
