Gender Affirming Care Isn’t Just for the Young. It’s Lifesaving at Every Age. New research from Murdoch Children’s Research Institute's Dr. Anja Ravine and A/Prof Ken Pang challenges claims that gender clinics are being "overrun" by trans boys. The data tells a different story, grounded in evidence rather than panic. But what’s often overlooked is the experience of older trans and gender diverse people. Many came out later in life after decades of silence. They face significant barriers in accessing respectful, gender affirming care, including systemic ageism and a lack of informed clinicians. The impact is real: increased mental distress, delayed treatment, and persistent invisibility. Gender affirming care is not a phase, and it is not age limited. It is a critical part of delivering person centred, inclusive healthcare for all. #LGBTIQ #InclusiveHealthcare #TransHealth #AgeingWithPride #LGBTIQInclusion #GenderAffirmingCare #HealthEquity #OlderTransVoices https://lnkd.in/gYkWKvcV

As a clinical hypnotherapist, I've noticed an increasing trend of more masculine women and feminine men. This has led to a 'war of the genders' globally, with men and women often criticizing each other for not fitting traditional gender norms. I believe this stems from the women's liberation movement, where women fought for equal rights and opportunities. However, in the process, some women may have lost touch with their innate feminine qualities. Similarly, the lack of male role models in single-parent households can contribute to the rise of feminine men. I'm passionate about this issue and believe hypnotherapy can help people become more aware of these dynamics and support one another in embracing their true selves, regardless of gender. #GenderRoles #MasculineWomen #FeminineMen #GenderWar #WomensLiberation #Feminism #TraditionalGenderNorms #HypnotherapySupport

Public Information Communication for Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) Gender Lens ABSTRACT Introduction: Access to accurate and gender-sensitive Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) information is a critical determinant of achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) in Uganda. Information Communication Campaigns (ICCs) have the potential to shift public attitudes, influence behavior, and promote gender equality in SRHR services. Problem Statement: Despite Uganda’s commitment to SDG 3, deep-rooted gender norms, misinformation, and stigma around SRHR hinder equitable access, especially among women and youth. Inadequate communication strategies and limited use of culturally relevant information tools exacerbate this gap. Objectives: To examine how ICCs contribute to gender equality in SRHR in Uganda. To assess policy frameworks guiding ICCs on SRHR and gender equality. To identify best communication practices that enhance SRHR outcomes for marginalized groups.Methodology: This paper used a systematic literature review and policy analysis of government documents, NGO reports, and academic articles from 2010–2024. It applied the Communication for Development (C4D) framework and feminist communication theories to evaluate impact. Results: Campaigns that integrated gender-sensitive messaging reported increased SRHR knowledge, uptake of services, and reduced stigma. Effective ICCs must be participatory, locally adapted, and gender-transformative. Integration with health systems and youth engagement increases impact. Use of community media, peer education, multilingual messages, and digital platforms. Collaboration with CSOs improved message relevance. Conclusions: ICCs are vital in promoting gender-equitable SRHR in Uganda when grounded in inclusive communication strategies and supportive policy environments. Recommendations: Strengthen community-driven communication approaches, scale successful models nationally, and integrate ICCs in health sector programming. Keywords: Gender Equality, SRHR, Communication Campaigns, SDG 3, Uganda.

Beyond the Binary: Autism and Gender Diversity Research continues to highlight the strong overlap between neurodivergence and gender diversity. Individuals who identify as gender diverse (including non-binary people) are around 3–6 times more likely to have an autism diagnosis than cisgender individuals. Conversely, autistic young people are more likely to describe their gender identity or expression as non-binary or gender-incongruent. A 2024 study (Huisman et al.) found that 46.2% of non-binary and gender-queer adults in a transgender and gender-diverse sample scored above the clinical cutoff for autistic traits, compared with 27.6% of binary trans adults and 15.1% of cisgender adults. Many autistic people who are women, non-binary or trans receive their diagnosis later in life—or recognize it themselves—because diagnostic criteria and social expectations have long been shaped around a male, cisgender ‘prototype’. 👉 This intersection matters. Understanding how masking, identity, and self-advocacy intersect is essential to creating safer spaces, better recognition, and more inclusive systems of support. Real change starts when we listen to and believe autistic and gender-diverse voices — when lived experience leads, systems follow. #Autism #Neurodiversity #GenderDiversity #LGBTQIA #Inclusion #Research #LateDiagnosis #Nonbinary #TransAutistic

Some trans+ people in Scotland could wait up to 224 years for their first NHS gender clinic appointment. Across the UK, most trans+ people will wait more than a third of their adult life. Some may never receive care at all. That’s what new research by @wearequeeraf_ and @whatthetrans reveals, using data uncovered through Freedom of Information requests to every NHS gender identity clinic in the UK. As of March 2025, more than 48,000 people were still waiting for their first NHS gender clinic appointment, a 12.5% rise in just one year. It’s shocking. But, sadly it’s also no surprise. Thanks to @VicParsons_ and to everyone for their hard work in putting this together. Federation of Reproductive Health Associations, Malaysia (FRHAM) and IPPF ESEAOR: JOINT MEDIA STATEMENT Girls are not safe even in classrooms. The recent reports of gender-based violence in Malaysian schools are not isolated incidents. They are the result of deep-rooted gender inequality, harmful norms, and the rise of toxic online subcultures that glorify misogyny and violence. To protect our young people, we must act urgently and collectively. Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) gives youth the tools to understand bodily autonomy, mutual respect, and consent. 🌈 ➡️ It builds emotional intelligence, helps prevent violence, and promotes gender equality. ➡️ Young people must be at the centre of the solution. Their voices, experiences and leadership matter in shaping safer, more equal societies. ➡️ Ending gender-based violence demands collective action from safe classrooms, support at home, responsible online spaces, and a strong community commitment. 📖 Read our full statement here: https://lnkd.in/gekD9rBJ #EndGBV #ProtectGirls #CSEforAll #GenderEquality #YouthRights #EmpathyEducation #SafeSchools

Critical reading! Something we worked on a while ago, but it shows the magnitude of the work we still have to do. Work which I am proud to be leading at the Global Disability Innovation Hub. This new publication from the AT2030 Programme reflects on the V2 projects (2019-2024) and highlights a significant challenge in Assistive Technology (AT) research: the massive gap in sex and gender-disaggregated data. The analysis found that only 16% of peer-reviewed papers disaggregated data by gender, obscuring the unique barriers faced by women and gender minorities—including greater stigma, financial inequities, and safety concerns—in accessing life-changing AT. This is a vital piece of evidence for the entire global development and disability inclusion sectors. It underscores the urgent need for robust, inclusive methodologies. Learn more about the key findings, including the commitment to mandatory gender reporting for AT2030 v3, as the programme moves forward. #AssistiveTechnology #AT2030programme #GenderEquality #DisabilityInclusion #GlobalHealth #Research https://lnkd.in/eZV8EtY3
