Congratulations on completing your placement!
Master of Arts Student in Global Cultures with King's College London | Passionate about Cultures and Socio-Political Issues
This post is a few days later than the actual date of milestone conclusion but I thought of it being worth sharing: I have officially completed my three-month long online Marketing and Communications volunteer internship with EcoSwell! The experience was nothing short of amazing as I had the pleasure of collaborating with a passionate team of American, British and Peruvian staff as well as interns to support their social media fundraising campaigns and contact list database management work to facilitate the construction of solar energy powered medical centres to ensure adequate healthcare support to Peru's vulnerable communities due to power outages. While I did not manage to physically travel down to Peru (which meant missing out on seeing the situation on the ground and soaking in the Peruvian culture and climate on-site), I have no regrets on coming onboard this internship. The internship marked my first time coming onboard a role where I interacted with an organisation's staff halfway across the world in the Americas. The experience enabled me to put my cross-cultural communication skills (picking up basic Spanish was a delightful experience!), adaptability in working across and attending virtual meetings across different time zones and self-discipline in completing work towards tight deadlines to the test. I am forever grateful to my internship supervisor Alejandro Pizarro for his patient guidance and mentorship, his hospitable and passionate colleagues Andres Bustamante, Henry Suarez, Hugo Fernandez, Jesus Espinoza as well as Outreach and International Operations Director Michael Alderson for dropping by and checking in on the final day of my virtual internship video call. Also, a big thank you to Barbara Alamo for ably administering the volunteer programme from beginning to end and delivering the lovely certificate. Lastly, I would like to express my appreciation to Global Nomadic and its Operations Manager Jeremy Freedman for serving as a platform for meaningful international volunteer opportunities and allowing me to come onboard one in the form of EcoSwell.
