A great session this morning at the Digital Marketing for Financial Services Conference, where Jacob Holtgrewe and Chris Hummel's conversation centered on the evolving intersection of data, AI, and modern marketing. A few takeaways stood out: - Building a robust “data spine” is foundational. Without the right connections and setup, organizations spend more time fixing issues than driving strategy. Integrated marketing, bringing together paid, owned, earned, and shared channels, relies on connected ecosystems and real-time optimization, powered by data and technology. - Content remains the connective tissue. Delivering the right message, in the right format, at the right time, is only possible with deep institutional knowledge and agile content creation tools. - AI is transforming workflows, from automating campaign briefs to accelerating content ideation and analysis. Early adoption in content and research is already yielding measurable gains. - Success hinges on cross-functional collaboration, breaking down silos, and ensuring technology platforms “talk” to each other. - The shift to quality over quantity in engagement, especially as AI search changes the customer journey, means organizations must rethink KPIs and leverage every touchpoint.
