How does it feel to support others while managing ADHD yourself? Social worker John Shaw knows both the challenges and the often-overlooked strengths of living with ADHD. Diagnosed while still at university, John has learned to manage the condition within the fast-paced and emotionally demanding world of social work. He recalls feeling misunderstood as a child: “Everyone just assumed that because I could speak well and had good general knowledge – and because I wasn’t failing any subject – everything was fine.” In his early career, John has experienced how a lack of understanding from managers can make things harder, but also how awareness and empathy can make a lasting difference. From managing short-term memory and focus to harnessing his drive and empathy as strengths, his story sheds light on the realities of working in social care with ADHD. Happy ADHD Awareness Month🩷 As October comes to an end, we’ve been reflecting on the theme of ADHD Awareness Month - something that feels particularly relevant to us, as our CEO and Franchisor, Katie, has ADHD herself. Katie recently sat down to have an open and honest conversation about what it’s really like to live with ADHD while running a business. She shares her personal experiences, the challenges she’s learned to manage, and the ways ADHD has actually become one of her greatest strengths. From embracing creative thinking to finding practical ways to stay focused and balanced, Katie’s perspective is both insightful and deeply relatable for anyone trying to juggle a busy life while thinking a little differently. Listen to her story here - it’s full of honesty, encouragement, and a reminder that there’s no one right way to succeed. #adhdawareness #ADHDawarenessmonth

Different Minds, Shared Strengths — ADHD Awareness Month October is ADHD Awareness Month. A time to shift how we see and support young people with ADHD. When a young person with ADHD enters a classroom or care setting, too often we see restlessness first. What if we looked closer? ADHD affects attention, impulse control, and activity levels but it also fuels creativity, innovation, and determined problem-solving. Many people with ADHD thrive when given the right environment: clear structure, movement opportunities, and understanding rather than judgment. They bring fresh perspectives and bold ideas. They see solutions others miss. They bring energy that can transform teams and communities. When we recognize neurodiversity as strength, we don't just support individuals, we create spaces where everyone can thrive.
