The buildings sector is both a major contributor and highly exposed to the climate crisis, responsible for over one-third of global energy-related emissions, and facing billions in annual losses from weather-related disruptions. Recognizing the urgency and opportunity for impact, our partners at the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) have launched a new project to broaden the application of the Buildings Criteria across SBTi Standards. As part of this effort, the #SBTi is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for technical partner support on the Buildings Interoperability and Performance Frameworks Project. This project will explore: 🔹 How the SBTi Buildings Criteria and the Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2 can work together to enable practical, effective target-setting. 🔹 How performance frameworks and certification schemes can help drive decarbonization across the buildings value chain. All applications must be submitted before October 17, 2025! https://lnkd.in/e79TCg7B cc: Ayla Dinçay Amanda Skeldon

Delving into the future of clean heating at Sustainable Places 2025 🔥 At SP2025, Stefano Morgione, one of our Energy Project Managers, will join the panel “Decarbonising DHC: Planning investments to decarbonise district heating and cooling networks”. Sustainable Places is one of Europe’s key conferences on sustainability in the built environment, bringing together research, policy, and industry to drive innovation and collaboration in energy efficiency and decarbonisation. During the session, experts from five LIFE CET projects will discuss actionable strategies to develop bankable renovation plans for District Heating and Cooling networks, aligned with the EU’s climate goals and the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED). Key discussion points include: 🟢 Navigating the EED’s “rolling horizon” for long-term compliance 🟢 Addressing network disconnections and additions in investment planning An opportunity to exchange hands-on insights and lessons learned from real-world DHC decarbonisation. #SustainablePlaces2025 #DHC #DistrictHeating #DistrictCooling #Decarbonisation #EnergyEfficiency #CleanEnergy #Investment #EUStrategy

Confident ground isn’t a given. It’s designed. In our latest blog, we look at what it really takes to deliver GSHP systems: on time, on budget, and for decades to come. - Design clarity: early feasibility and thermal modelling de-risk complex sites. - Funding insight: understanding the right routes keeps projects moving. - Future-proofing: whole-life carbon and performance modelling ensure systems stand up to today’s standards - and tomorrow’s. The takeaway? GSHPs aren’t a niche option. With the right design and strategy, they’re one of the most reliable paths to net zero-ready buildings. Today we have released an RfP for a technical partner to support the second phase of SBTi's buildings sector project. Phase 1 resulted in the publication of our Buildings Criteria, which have already been applied and validated by 25 companies globally from investors to property managers. Phase 2 is focussing on the interoperability of these criteria with V2.0 of the Corporate Net Zero Standard (currently in consultation) and exploration of the broader landscape of available asset level building certifications, metrics and benchmarks. Please do share with your networks. https://lnkd.in/eyT2xFsK

👷 How HOT2000 Aligns Your Builds with Green Development Standards Green development isn’t just a trend anymore — it’s shaping how homes are designed, approved, and sold. From Energy Star® to Net Zero and local municipal standards, builders are now expected to deliver homes that perform well beyond minimum code. Staying ahead of these evolving expectations requires more than guesswork — it demands proof. 💡 The Challenge ❌ Evolving green standards make compliance harder to track ❌ Different programs require different performance metrics ❌ Missed opportunities for rebates and certifications without documentation 🔧 The Solution: HOT2000 HOT2000, Canada’s official residential energy modeling software, bridges the gap between design intent and verified performance. It provides the consistent, data-backed modeling needed to align your projects with national and municipal green standards — helping you prove compliance, earn incentives, and strengthen your sustainability credentials. Here’s how HOT2000 supports green-aligned building: ✅ Models performance for Energy Star®, Net Zero, and SB12 pathways ✅ Verifies compliance with municipal and incentive program targets ✅ Highlights cost-effective upgrades that meet sustainability goals ✅ Builds a transparent record for certifications and marketing proof 🎯 The Result A builder used HOT2000 to assess their upcoming subdivision under both SB12 and Energy Star® standards. The model showed that with a few envelope adjustments, they could meet Energy Star® criteria without increasing overall costs — unlocking rebate eligibility and a stronger sustainability profile. 💬 Bottom line: HOT2000 makes it simple to align your builds with the green standards shaping today’s market — keeping your homes future-ready, compliant, and highly marketable. 📥 Grab your free guide: 5 Costly Ontario Building Code (SB12) Pitfalls and How Smart Builders Avoid Them 👉 https://lnkd.in/gqmzDjpe 💼 Want to see how your next project can qualify for green incentives?
