💡 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀 Earlier this summer, Dumarey Green Power’s Technical Director Andrew Deakin shared fascinating insights on how tower cranes are powered and the inefficiencies hidden in plain sight. Despite consuming only 𝟴–𝟭𝟮 𝗸𝗪 𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 during a working day, many sites still run these cranes on 𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗸𝗩𝗔 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗹 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 just to cover short peak loads. The outcome? • Generators running at only 𝟱–𝟭𝟬% 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 • 𝟰𝟱,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗹 burned annually - costing around €𝟲𝟳,𝟱𝟬𝟬 • Over €𝟲𝟯,𝟬𝟬𝟬 of that wasted as heat • 𝟭𝟮𝟬 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗢₂ 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 🚧 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁: • Use 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 where possible - lowest cost & lowest emissions • Combine 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗹𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 - cutting fuel use by up to 𝟱𝘅 • 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 can even allow multiple cranes to run off small mains connections ✅ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆: Right-sizing and adopting storage technology can reduce costs by 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟵𝟬%, drastically cut emissions, and shrink system footprints all 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.
